Description:

1957 Pontiac Catalina

You are bidding on a 1957 Pontiac Super Chief Catalina Coupe. Originally equipped with fuel injection, this car was ordered from GM with the factory Fuel injection, The records show Gm produced 630 Bonneville convertibles with the fuel injection, first year for Pontiac Fuelies. This car has the Rochester unit for the 57 Pontiac steel tube. Rochester's records show 56 units were ordered that year from the above 630. I have also included literature that shows you could order fuel injection for your 1957 Pontiac if you were brave, being it was something new. The story of this car is the father ordered it new from gm Drove for 3 years, then he passed away and left to his son. His son pushed the car into his tiny garage and didn't look at for 8 years. During that time, he bought a 11-acre property and amassed a collection of cars 82 in total. The 3 prizes of his collection was a 1957 dodge truck with a dual quad 409, This Pontiac fuelie and a 1972 gmc short bed. Which he had stored below his house in the garage. Upon his passing all his cars have gotten new homes. I purchased 2 and this Rare Car is only going to be offered this one time in my moment of weakness, there will be no ending the auction early so everyone has the chance to own this car. Before his sons passing, he has repainted in lacquer both colors the root beer and gold two tone, He was young so he Hot rodded the car, took off the original Fuel injection unit and thankfully saved it for all of us, he put on a 4-barrel carb and a hydramatic trans with a hydragate shifter, has a McPherson bar on rear. Car has an Old school Mallory ignition box and a dual point distributor when I purchased the car I put new exhaust on i, new tires and redid the brakes, I also added vintage air system, lots of pictures few nos pieces still in wrappers, also comes with the original interior panels and the original back seats as shown, also comes with a factory power steering set up if desired. Car runs and drives but sadly been setting for 2 years since I've gotten this beauty. new aluminum radiator and electric cooling fan. During my research I have checked with the Pontiac club and word is this car could be one of the ones that was special ordered because gm never kept records back then. during the auction the garage had thousands of vintage auto parts for sale and the front crossover tube and distributor were taken from there resting spot in the basement. But all the rest of the unit is intact off vehicle and goes with car as do all the parts as shown in the pictures. Car is very solid as it has had a good life was under a soft car cover for over 35 years.
