1981 Pontiac Trans Am

Up for sale is my treasured 1981 Pontiac Trans Am. I have owned this car since 2010 when it was bought as a shell with the original 301 Turbo and the interior in boxes.

  • The original motor was removed and we put in a 78 Pontiac 400. It has an Edelbrock 1405 Manual choke carburetor.
  • Original 350 Auto Transmission. Pontiac D Port Headers, and Flowmaster exhaust and chrome tips.
  • The car has the original Turbo hood still and has a custom downward pointed air cleaner for height clearance.
  • Original AC car, all AC has been removed and the turbo has been removed.
  • Paint is a 6/10. I have stored it outside most of its life. Decals are faded and some parts a little crunchy.
  • There is a dent in the passenger door from trying to pull into a very narrow garage. Turbo bulge in the hood has a point bulge from shutting the hood with the old air cleaner on and the stud hitting the hood.
  • There is some rust on the hood and fender ledge. The fenders have some rust bubbles coming through at the bottom and also the rear quarter bottoms have some rust bubbles coming up.
  • Floors are good, trunk is good.

The restoration of this car has been documented with hundreds of videos.

  • The seats were recovered in 2011 when the interior was redone.
  • Has a chrome polished 8 point hooker show bar installed in it.
  • The dash has a full dash cap in it as the original dash has cracks in it.
  • The dash bezel and shifter bezel were restored by Randy Combs in 2012.
  • Most of the plastics are in really good shape.
  • The rear armrest panels have been trimmed to fit the Hooker Roll Cage in it.
  • Seatbelts were restored by Ssnake Oyl in 2012.
  • Steering wheel has a custom leather wrap done in 2014.
  • The t tops are in very good shape and have bags and the metal edge is anondized.
  • Weatherseals have been replaced, t top roof and side seals in 2016, door seals and sweeps in 2012, trunk seal 2012.
  • Door panels were new and put in 2012 but the bottoms are showing a little wear in the carpeted section.
  • Headlights and tail lights are LED. Headlights feature halo lights.
  • Gauges are custom carbon fiber but I am having issues with the tach and speedo.
  • All the bulbs in the cluster are higher watt and they have the red special edition glow to them.
  • Motor is strong and has always started for me everytime for the last 11 years. I change the oil every 3 months whether I drive the car or not and I run fully synthetic 10/30. Car does not like standard oil, will smoke if it gets cheap oil.
  • The radiator is good, never overheated, came close once about 10 years ago but was the upper hose and got that changed.
  • Tires are new, but I am not a fan of them.
  • Drives good for a 40 year old car. brakes are good, suspension is good.
  • Car gets about 7-8 to the gallon, non ethanol only. 3 speed overdrive transmission, starts out strong and maxes out at about 65-70 MPH.

This car runs and drives great, however I insist that it be towed to its new home and not driven as it is a 40 year old car. I do 75-100 mile trips in it often, but still is a 40 year old car.

I am not interested in trades, and am not in a rush to sell this car. I know how much I have in it and it reflects in the price tag.Pontential buyers are welcome and encouraged to come drive the car and look it over before making offers or purchasing
