1967 Pontiac GTO

Have you ever wanted to own the holy grail of classic cars? Try a one family-owned car that was sold new in Arizona and has never been out of the state or sold to anyone in 55 years!

One (1) owner 1967 Arizona GTO with the optional High Output Motor and 4-speed Transmission! Only 8,555 Pontiac GTO's with the 360 Horse-power HO motor and 4-speed transmission were built in 1967 making this quite a find.

This gorgeous 1967 Pontiac GTO was manufactured in June of 1967 in Fremont, California and sold at Westward Pontiac in Phoenix, Arizona in July 1967. Mike purchased the car upon his return from the Vietnam War and brought home his 3 newborn girls in it in 1969, 1971, and 1974. He worked for AT&T and had a company truck as well as other vehicles over the years (which he never got rid of) so the GTO has only traveled just shy of 103,000 miles to date. According to receipts we found, some going back to 1972, the car only had 99458 miles in September 1996 when 2 new tires were purchased. At 100,265 miles in February 1997 a new timing chain was installed and in July 2013 at 100,845 miles the car received a new clutch assembly and the flywheel was re-surfaced. The car was lightly driven as Mike also purchased a1967 Grand Prix in 1970 (still in the family), a 1971 Ford F-100 XLT Ranger in 1974 (still in the family), which became his main vehicle, and then purchased a 1980 Jeep CJ5 in 1980 (still in the family) and also a Harley Davidson in 1990 (also still in the family).

It is PHS certified and it still has the ORIGINAL HO 360 HP engine, not just a period correct engine. The build date on the block is June of 1967 and the engine unit number matches with WS6712 on the PHS documentation and on the block. All options that the car came with are still there to include the Muncie M20 4 speed transmission with the Hurst Shifter, the Am/Am push button radio (works), the rally gauge instrument cluster that includes the Tachometer (all gauges work), the custom hubcaps and even the original soft-ray windshield is still there (with a couple of stone chips as you can imagine in a 55 year old car). All the glass is original and intact, heater, wipers, lights work and the car drives, shifts and stops very well. When we removed the carpet we even found a partial "broadcast sheet" showing the model number (24217) and serial number which are the last 4 digits of the vin (8743) which adds to the authenticity of this car. Although hard to read you can see 225 in the Trim Box which is the red interior as well as 20 in the transmission box for the Muncie M20. Both the trunk and ignition key numbers on the PHS documents also match the 2 sets of original keys we have. Included in the paperwork is the original owner's manual as well as the warranty book with the protecto plate still attached and of course all numbers match there as well.

Mike was admitted into the VA Hospital in Arizona in 2018 and sadly never left. We decided to bring the car back to it's former glory and began working on it in 2019 so it could be brought to the VA to show Mike but unfortunately due to Covid he never did get to see it again. We wanted to make the car look good and drive well and in no way was this going to be a "Trailer Queen" so it was restored to be enjoyed and driven (approximately 1000 miles since the work was completed). The car received a paint job in the original C code Cameo Ivory and an entire new interior package in the original 225 code (red) from OPG. New tires were installed, new battery, new cam, new water pump, aluminum radiator and shroud, new brakes, wheel cylinders, distributor/rotor/points/plugs/wires as well as other odds and ends including rear end bearings and seals and rear springs. The original carburetor was replaced with a Holley Double-pumper and the car received an entire new exhaust system from the original 670 code manifolds back that includes Glass-packs and it sounds amazing. Parts that were removed were kept and will go with the car. This includes camshaft, dash pad, door panels and arm rests, the metal seat backs and lower protectors, sun visors, steering wheel, etc. All the chrome and other brighwork is original and looks amazing but there are a couple of scuff marks on the rear bumper. We did not try to hide anything underneath by sand blasting the frame and floors and spraying with under-coating so you can see how clean it is.

Pictures speak for themselves so please take a look at the condition of the car including the original floors from both sides and bid to win. We have additional pictures if needed and can also face time or skype with interested parties. Please reach out via the ebay link with contact info and we’ll be happy to schedule.

The car is located in Phoenix, AZ in 85086 zip code for shipping quotes. A $2000 non-refundable deposit is required within 24-hours of end of auction with the remaining balance due within 7 days of end of auction via cash, cashier’s check or wire transfer. The vehicle will not leave our possession until all funds have cleared. Since this car is privately owned there are no additional fees such as taxes, dealer fees, etc. We are happy to keep the car in the garage until you can schedule transportation.

Clean, clear Arizona title of course.

The reserve is set at a fair amount (less than the following lower number) considering the other 67 Goats for sale on various websites are listed from $69,000 to $129,000.
