1965 Pontiac GTO
The ultimate 1965 GTO! Documented by Pontiac Historical Society as being born a real tri-power, 4-speed in the most desirable colors-red! A no expense spared, rotisserie restoration was documented with 300 photos and a pile of receipts. It was stripped down to a bare metal shell. Every single item was restored or replaced. Many NOS parts were used. Only 872 miles since restored.EXTERIOR: The body was mounted on a rotisserie so it could easily be worked on from every angle. It was stripped to bare metal and any rust was completely eliminated. It was repainted in it's original Montero red color, the finish is better than factory. The fenders were painted inside too. This thing is lase beam straight. The body panels fit perfectly square and flush. Every single piece of exterior trim has been replaced or restored. New correct antenna. The jambs are just as slick as the outside. The hardware, weather strips, window seals and sill plates have been replaced. New windshield and rear glass. It has cool looking loss red rims with pristine set of poverty hubcaps. The redline tires are custom made BFGoodrich radials.
INTERIOR: It was completely gutted. The dash was painted with a gun. The floors were lined with Rattle Trap insulation. The seats were restored with new burlap, cushions and Legendary upholstery. New matching door panels. The chrome instrument panel is new with new woodgrain. This car has the Rally gauges with tachometer. New dash pad and speaker. New glovebox. It has new wiring harness. New ignition, turn signal, wiper, dimmer and headlight switches. The list goes on and on down to new sunshade grommets, inside mirror, steering column seal and glovebox liner. The 4 speed console looks new. New deluxe seat belts. All the interior lights work, AM radio works.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Original 389-360 hp tri-power motor. Correct casting code, date coded and the stamp is WS. It was completely remachined and rebuilt. New pistons, correct tri-power cam, rebuilt heads etc. The carbs were completely restored. They have correct fuel lines, air cleaners and even the paper filters. The plug wires are reproduction and dated to the car. It has reproduction hoses. Correct reproduction cadmium plated power brake booster. It also features power steering. It is completely detailed like factory new. All the metal has a smooth satin black finish. The hardware, nuts, bolts and latches are clean. The radiator shroud and look proper. Wiper motor is new. It has hood insullation, the hinges look new. It has a disconnect on the battery.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It is all clean metal with a tidy coat of gray and white spatter paint. New 2 piece mat, tire cover, rear seat insulation and weatherstrip. New wiring harness. Under the trunk lid and the jamb are painted real slick.
UNDERSIDE: The body was removed from the chassis then put on a rotisserie. The body was flipped on it's side so the bottom could be restored like new. It is all metal with no rust. It was sealed and painted a smooth satin black. The frame was media blasted, sealed and painted gloss black. The entire steering and suspension was rebuilt and detailed front and back. The exhaust is a correct reproduction with resonators and correct splitter tips. The brakes were completely rebuilt. New hoses, lines and e-brake assembly. New fuel system. Upgraded stainless tank, new straps, sending unit and lines. Looking up at the motor it still looks fresh, new fuel pump and starter. The M20 wide ratio 4-speed was rebuilt. Clutch and linkage were replaced. Restored driveshaft, new U-joints. Rebuilt 3.55 Saf-T-Track rear.
This is an amazing GTO. To find a factory born red-red with tri-power and 4-speed will be close to impossible. Then have it rotisserie restored like this one you will have well over $100,000 invested. This is an exceptional car, investment grade!
