Description:

1976 Pontiac Trans Am

You are bidding on a 1976 Pontiac Trans Am. This is a numbers-matching 455, 4 speed car with 76K miles. It appears to have all of it's original body panels and is very solid for a car of this age. Out of a total of 46,704 T/As built in '76, this is one of only 7,099 with the 455 and 4 speed. These have been climbing in value the last few years as evidenced by the results from the most recent Mecum auction in Kissimmee, Florida.

The engine, transmission and rearend are original. The block, heads, intake, carburetor and even the alternator are original. Most likely the distributor as well, but I have not verified that yet. A remanufactured starter has been installed.

The exhaust is brand new, front to back. The exhaust manifolds have been blasted and painted with high heat cast iron gray. The gaskets are new, clamps are new, hangers are new. There are new, black phosphate grade 8 manifold bolts and new studs & nuts where the head pipes attach. Tail pipes are correct with the chrome splitters.
The 15 x 7 Rally II wheels have been blasted and refinished on both the front and back sides. They have been balanced with stick-on wheel weights on the inside to keep the outer appearance clean. The tires are Uniroyal Tiger Paws, 215 / 70R15 at all 4 corners with very good tread on them. Lug nuts are brand new. The red arrowhead emblems are new, installed on a set of original center caps.
The interior is in good shape overall - see pics. The headliner material fell down - needs to be reglued, but is included with the car. There are a couple cracks in the dash. I may have another one available at extra cost to the winning bidder that is in much better shape. All gauges work, except the clock. The oil pressure is good and the car has not run hot when I have driven it (has an aluminum radiator). The power windows DO work also.

As stated, the body is very solid overall. The floors, trunk and rear body panel are all in good condition. The rear quarters are original to the car. The passenger side rear 1/4, behind the wheel opening will require a small patch eventually. The paint is what I would call a "10 footer". That is, it looks quite presentable from about 10 feet away, but does have some cracking and several touch-ups.

Here's a short video of the car running:

Being that this is a 44 year old car, it is being sold as-is. If you have any questions, please ask before bidding. Winning bidder is responsible for all shipping costs or pick-up of the vehicle.
