Just acquired from a prestigious collection, GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this ultra low mile, high quality 20th Anniversary 1989 Pontiac Turbo Trans Am Pace Car for world consideration. Introduced as the pace car for the 1989 Indianapolis 500, Pontiac produced a limited run of just 1555 Pace Car collector edition examples that featured unique badging and graphics.
The car offered here, car number 420, is a stunning example presenting itself in collector condition having been driven just 609 miles since delivered new to Coggin Pontiac, Inc of Durham North Carolina. The car features its original, numbers matching 3.8 liter Turbocharged V6 mated to its original 4 Speed Automatic Transmission and 3.27 Ratio Borg Warner rear axle. The original interior features leather seats, multifunction steering wheel, power windows, power locks, removable T-Tops, etc and remains in outstanding condition. The car has never had any body or paint work of any kind and the white exterior paint remains excellent in all areas, the engine compartment and engine bay remain original and extremely clean and the underside is completely original and excellent in all areas. The car retains all of its identification plates and stickers and original glass.
Other factory modifications included crossflow exhaust as well as a GNX based intercooler. Power stats are said to be extremely under rated at 250hp. The car is fitted with all factory options including leather sport seats and glass T-top roof.
Turbo charged cars such as the Grand National, GNX and Trans Am are extremely important cars in American automotive history.
