1965 Pontiac GTO - 4-speed, 428 Quadrajet
1965 Pontiac GTO
This car is the Millennium Falcon. "She's got it where it counts, Kid."
Many of the original 389s were blown up from too much racing.
This car has a 428 cubic inch replacement. Should be minimum
390 hp, could be much more. Rejetted for altitude and the points
distributor was gutted and replaced with new ignition technology.
The car is running perfectly in the high altitudes around Telluride, CO.
We also replaced the rear shocks, Hurst emblem and trunk lock.
Power front brakes have been upgraded with disc brakes.
Our mechanic also reports there is some kind of steering upgrade.
The alignment is nearly perfect. The car drives amazingly for a
55 year old classic. The interior has been completely redone, so
it feels like you're driving a new car. The body looks good until
you get close, then you can see the car has some history. There
is definitely some Bondo in the fenders and quarter panels.
The vinyl Cordova top looks great but needs to be replaced.
I have the original window sticker. This is a real GTO and not
a tribute Tempest or LeMans dressed up to look like a real one.
Haggerty values a '65 GTO in good condition at $37,400, and
one in fair condition at $27,000, with an additional 15% for the 4-speed.
Many old muscle cars have slid in value, but the GTOs and racey
Mustangs just keep going up. Concours condition GTOs sell for
$100,000+, and you will find many of these cars over $60,000.
We will accept $30,000 or the best offer we get.
