The popularity of "Smokey and The Bandit" meant everyone was trying to get their hands on a 1978 Pontiac Trans Am. And the demand has always remained high and today prices are rising. This one is your opportunity to own a car restored back to a very high level and you can do it without breaking the bank. But hurry because one as beautiful as this may keep rising in value quickly.
OK, so the car in the movie was a 1977 (actually a 76 with a 77 front end because they were filming before the restyled 77 was officially released). But this one nails the look in every way that matters. Better still its a factory black car so there was no color change needed to make it look right. You can tell there was plenty of time and money invested in a professional respray so that the shiny paint earns its Starlight BLACK name. But what really sets this coupe apart are the GOLD S/E Decals and interior trim. A new decal package during the restoration means the "Screaming Chicken" on the hood is bold and to be feared. All the lettering and accent gold trim stripes are crisp and clear against the midnight paint job. And of course everyone loves the sight of the iconic GOLD snowflake 15-inch alloys.
"BLACK is Beautiful", is the first thing Burt Reynolds said when when he saw his Trans Am in the Bandit sequel and this interior follows that line perfectly. The high back vinyl bucket seats are all original, firm and look factory fresh. They provide the kind of all-day comfort that would keep you happy bootlegging beer all across the South. The carpets, center console, dash and every other key dark piece of this car have not lost their luster. But this Trans AM doesn't just feel like midnight inside. Just like the GOLD accents on the exterior there are plenty of bright spots inside too. The driver gets to sit behind a brand new GOLD three-spoke tilt sport steering wheel. And beyond that is a GOLD colored machined aluminum dash professionally restored by Randy Combs. It's complete with all new perfect clear lenses covering all of the gauges and controls. You'll notice the headlight switch, radio knobs, cigarettelighter, ashtrays, window cranks, door handle bezels, door panels, center storage console, and even front seat-beltsare all BRAND NEW. If this is starting to feel like a highly authentic restoration, you'dbe very correct. It's period correct right down to the AM/FM 8-track stereo that's still ready to play your Jerry Reed tracks. The one subtle upgrade that you won't see but you'llsurely feel is the additionof R134a air conditioning to the original system that will keep you cool over the long haul.
With 400 cubic-inches under the hood (AKA 6.6-litre) you'llfind very few people willing to call the big V8's block color "baby" blue. It looks quite authentic right down to the Rochesterfour-barrel carburetorand factory hood shaker that everyoneremembersso well. In fact this is so nicely preserved and maintained that its also believedto be the original power plant. This motor makes great muscle car sounds! The Trans AM had a reputation in its day for being quick but it could also handle corners like a movie star. It was specifically chosen to be Bandit's "Trigger" because it was one of the best sports cars of its day. Plus this one has long haul comfort thanks to a GM TH350 three-speed automatic transmission, front disc brakes & power steering. And don't forget to check the undercarriage photo where you can tell the signs of low mileageand good care by hows there is some of the original red oxide coating still visible after over four decades.

Also included are the following items to complete the look of the "The Bandit" :CB Radio Face & CB Antenna, "BAN ONE" Georgia Prop License Plate. (The CB radio is non-functional face and mic only and not permanently mounted. There are no holes drilled to ensure you can remove it if you don't want it. The CB antenna is a removable magnetic mount with the transmission cable cut for a clean appearance. They are all for looks only)
