1970 Pontiac GTO - 455 Ram Air! Judge Clone! 63,0
1970 Pontiac GTO
The iconic Pontiac GTO was the original American muscle car and it remains an automotive icon to this day. GTO's were manufactured by GM's defunct Pontiac Motor Division from 1964 through 1974. For the 1964 and 1965 model years, the GTO was an option package on the intermediate-sized Pontiac Lemans. In 1966, the GTO became a separate model and stayed that way until 1971. In 1972-73, the GTO was sold as an option package on the LeMans and, in its final year, the GTO was an optional package on the Ventura.
The instant GTO came from the Pontiac factory as a GTO hardtop coupe. According to the original dealer's invoice (which we obtained from the Pontiac Historical Society), the car was shipped to Prince Pontiac-Oldsmobile, Inc. in Manassas, Virginia on November 14, 1969. The dealer's invoice indicates that the car came from the factory painted Baja Gold with a Sandlewood interior. The car was also equipped with factory power steering and air conditioning. At some unknown point in time, the original engine was replaced with a 455 Ram Air big block, was resprayed black and then cloned into a Judge. The car retains the distinctive Judge badges and striping to this day. The car's original electric doors were converted to manual doors and the current owner swapped out the factory rims for a set of new, resto mod rims. The front rims are 17X9 while the rear rims are 18X10. The car has been expertly maintained by its current owner who also installed a new aluminum radiator with dual electric cooling fans into the car. In addition, the current owner replaced all suspension components with new parts and rebuilt the entire brake system including the brake booster and hoses. The original radiator and rims remain with and will be sold with the car. The location of the original engine is unknown
The car's current owner states that the mileage on the car is accurate and he believes that the odometer reflects actual miles. He further asserts that the car is a true survivor automobile and has never been rotisserie restored. Based on the car's physical appearance, it appears to be in "buy it, drive it, enjoy it" condition and it currently needs nothing.
