1964 PONTIAC GTO CONVERTIBLE......NICE ROCK SOLID CAR
1964 Pontiac GTO --
VIN 824P174906 MILES: 72020 reading today. WHAT IS THE HISTORY? A man from Indiana had the car restored. He had some problems and sold the car to my car restoring dealer friend from near Cincinnati. I love GTOs so I bought it. IS THIS A REAL GTO? The guy that had it restored said it was and my friend thinks it is. My research says you cannot tell by the VIN on this year. Everything looks right to me and I believe it...is. If you have concerns run a PHS check and they can tell you. The GTO package was a option in 1964. It looks right to me, but I will not guarantee you a thing. IS THERE RUST ISSUES? No rust bubble in the paint, the under side looks restored and rock solid. Past owner said it was a frame off restoration, new body mounts make me believe it. HEAD LIGHTS WORK! TAIL LIGHTS WORK! BRAKE LIGHTS WORK! INTERIOR LIGHTS WORK! TURN SIGNALS WORK! TRUNK LIGHT WORKS! WIPERS WORK! HORN WORKS! ORIGINAL RADIO NOT WORKING! SPEEDOMETER WORKS! GAS GAUGE WORKS! OIL, TEMP AND VOLTS ARE OLD SCHOOL IN A POD UNDER DASH! HOW IS THE CONVERTIBLE TOP? No wear, no holes and it fits very good. It is manual and goes up and down easy. I have a new boot ordered. HOW IS THE INTERIOR? Nice white interior with no wear? All the upholstery is very good. The worst thing I see is some minor pits in the original console. HOW IS THE ENGINE? I just rebuilt the engine. Past owner built it with a cam that was too large, loose racing pistons. In a convertible with a automatic transmission, I don't like a cam that makes it die at a red light, I also don't like to hear rattling pistons. I put a new 4 barrel cam, new lifter, new Seal Power pistons, new bearings, new freeze plug and the list goes on. I had the block bored .010 over at the best local machine shop. The engine had less than 100 miles, so I used the heads that were on it, past owner said they are 421 heads. The carburetor is a Edelbrock 4 barrel, the header are by Hooker. HOW IS THE TRANSMISSION? Good shifting automatic that was rebuilt. HOW IS THE PAINT? I consider the paint very nice. The color is inferno red, its very much like the original Marimba red, but has a little more pop with some pearl. The car is very straight down the sides, no runs and the shine is very good, no dents and no dings. If you want to pick it you can find some specs and a chip or two that have been touched up. It very nice paint its just not a perfect roll out of the trailer show queen. HOW DOES THE CAR DRIVE? I consider it driving very good, it is manual steering with a steering gear that looks new, tie rod end, shocks and all the bushing look as good as new. HOW DOES THE CAR STOP? It stops very good for drum brakes with no booster, they satisfy me. HOW IS THE EXHAUST SYSTEM? Hooker headers, Flow Master mufflers, 3 inch pipes. It has the good deep Muscle Car sound. HOW IS THE CHROME? It all looks very good to me, no rust and no peeling. HOW IS THE GLASS? Good glass with no milky areas and no cracks. HOW ARE THE TIRES AND WHEELS? Original rims, good Cooper tires and very nice original spinner hubcaps. WHERE IS THE CAR LOCATED? Athens, Tennessee 37303. PLEASE COME INSPECT THIS CAR AND BE HAPPY OR DON'T BE A CRY BABY AFTER YOU GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
