1974 was the first and only time Pontiac built the GTO on the X platform. In the Fall of 1981, fter graduating from high school, bought a 1973 Ventura hatchback... 3 speed on the floor with a 350. I paid $750. The vinyl top was torn, he left rear quarter was rotted out and the hatchback leaked but it was MY car and it ran like a beast. It got me to school and work for a couple of years before I sold it for about what I paid for it. I spent about 10 years looking for another '73 hatchback, without success, efore stumbling upon this car at 2011 Fall Hershey. It's got a 400 out of a '67 Catalina and is fitted with Eagle rods and Ross pistons. Easy to start and it drives like it was just taken off of the assembly line.
The exterior of the car is basically the same as when it left the factory, with a few minor changes and larger Rally II wheels. Inside, he car is pretty much stock, ith the exception of a homemade console outfitted with auxiliary instruments. The tourch red paint with the white and blue stripe on the exterior and the white vinyl interior turns heads at every car show. The combination of the stock car with a few, asteful modifications make this rare '74 GTO stand out.
