1979 Trans Am WS6 Coupe Retro Mod – BLACK

Price: - Item location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Description:

1979 Pontiac Trans Am

Engine: 1972 LS5 454 - ~300hp at the rear wheels. Original engine was gone when I bought her.

Exhaust: Fully rebuilt 3 years ago by Hitman Hotrod. 2.75" steel, not stainless, with new shorty headers and mufflers. The sound is to die for. Do not start near babies, small children or impressionable young women.

Trans: TH400 with shift kit, rebuilt about 10 years ago. (Note: It is a GM transmission, so if it is stored for any length of time, it will leak from somewhere. They all do.)

Suspension: Hotchkiss TVS2 (total vehicle suspension system) + Hotchkiss sub-frame connectors.

Steering: Hotchkiss Premium Steering Rebuild Kit AGR performance 12:7 steering box.

Rear end: Moser 9" Power Pack with 3.50:1 gearing

Front brakes: Stock Disc Breaks

Rearbrakes: Willwood rear disc break kit.

Wheels & tires: 17x9 Year One Cast Snowflakes + Toyo R888 (One season left on them.) I have three of the original snowflakes, someone stole the fourth.

Seats: Custom race buckets by GTS Classics

Sound System: Custom built by Oddball Customs. Here's what I can tell you, Single CD Kenwood head unit capable of accepting an iPod (80 gig iPod included) or hard drive. Computer controlled horn tweeters installed under the dash. Floor mounted mids, 2x6" in the rear and a 10" sub in the trunk.

This is an incredible sound system and was $5K in parts and labour to install. I wanted a very high end system that was discreet. (note: There is some minor water swelling to the box.)

Paint: Rust free. She was repainted about 15 years ago. While never winter driven, the paint shows the natural wear and tear any of well loved, but well cared for summer car would show; Stone chips, nicks and minor scratches as are to be expected. She's a driver, not a trailer queen. I'd give her a 7, my priorities have been handling and performance.

Things I know of and have been chasing:

• As mentioned, if sitting/stored for a length of time, the transmission will leak.

• Trunk leaks. I have a new seal but have yet to install.

• Glitch with electric window switch. I have a replacement.

• Centre glove box hinge has cracked. I have a replacement.
