Up for sale is a collectable 1979 Pontiac Trans Am in its original RARE color "Sundance Yellow". It still shines the factory original 1979 paint, and wears the aged patina vary well, looks cool, and retro the way it is. This Pontiac was never painted and had no rust anywhere vary solid car. Looks better in person, pictures does it no justice. The interior is complete but needs to be totally restored.
The car was purchased off the original owners family in Burbank Ca. wear it stood all time in a garage in Southern Ca. It was parked by them in 1996 due to a carbuater fuel problem. The carb was taken off for repair, but they never had it rebuilt and put back on to make it run again. I am selling this car as a mechanic special because its not running in AS IS CONDITION @ NO RESERVE.
Motor is a #matching 6.6 403 V8.
In base configuration, the '79 Trans Am came with an Oldsmobile-sourced 403-cu.in. V-8 (RPO L080), which had already seen use in California-bound Trans Ams (and some Formulas) since the 1977 model year. It was only available with an automatic. Featuring a 4.351 x 3.385-inch bore and stroke, "4A" cast-iron heads with 2.00/1.55-inch intake/exhaust valves, hydraulic lifters and a Rochester Quadrajet four-barrel carburetor, the 7.9:1 compression engine was rated for 185hp and 315-lbs ft of torque.
Like most single-exhaust Oldsmobile V-8s, it used a crossover tube to connect the driver's-side manifold to the passenger side; a single pipe connected to a single catalytic converter, followed by a Y-pipe leading to twin resonators and twin tailpipes featuring "splitter" tips. Look for the letter "K" in the VIN, while the Shaker scoop should feature "6.6 Litre" decals.
Automatic transmission with Air Conditioning, Not a lot of CALIFORNIA cars came with A/C! Car steers and brakes fine.

The 1979 Firebird was the most popular in its history with 211,453 sold, a record that would never be broken by any other Firebird. This was part due to its continuing popularity from "Smokey and the Bandit, "? but also because of revamped styling cues for the new year. It had a new aerodynamic front end and a breath-taking full width tail lamp treatment.
Several enthusiasts claim this year to be the true end of the iconic muscle car era because this would be the last year for the big block V8s being offered in a small car line.
The Oldsmobile 403 was standard in the Trans Am and the last of the Pontiac 400s were installed in only 8,326 cars.
