OUTSTANDING BUILD W/ BEAUTIFUL PAINT/INTERIOR, 455 BIG BLOCK, MUNCIE 4 SPD, WOW!
1969 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Tribute
We tend to think of the word "restoration" very favorably, and eagerly anticipate the awesome visuals that very word conjures up. However, every so often, we come across a classic car that features so many new and yet era-correct parts that the term just doesn't seem to provide an adequate description. This 1969 Pontiac Trans Am Tribute is such a car. Combining an outstanding exterior with SERIOUS power, it also features an impressive array of new parts from front to back.
Sporting correct code 50 Cameo White paint that's accented with a pair of Tyrol Blue racing stripes running from front to back, this car is an attention magnet in the best possible sense. Everywhere you look, there are reminders that this car is truly a cut above - the bumpers in both front and back are sporting impressively clean chrome (with the rear bumper being new), all the emblems and decals have been replaced, and you can see by the crystal clarity of the glass on all four sides that it, too, was recently installed, along with fresh rubber seals. The finishing touches we look for in a classic of this caliber have all been looked after, as well - the body panel alignment is on point, with tight, even gaps and doors that open and shut smoothly and sit flush, and the molding on the rockers and wheel wells, also new, fits well and shows no visible blemishes. Check out another feature you don't see all that often. The hood mounted tach actually works! Not much left to chance here - just an extremely clean exterior by any measure.
A very sharp blue interior replaces the original green, and it also features an awesome array of new components. The bucket seats in front and bench seat in back show almost no wear and remain uncreased and tight, as they were both reupholstered, down to their foam, and the carpet that runs underneath has also been replaced down to its insulation. Just as with the exterior, there weren't any corners cut inside - you'll see a very clean headliner above you and a fresh set of gauges situated inside the instrument cluster just beyond the wood grain steering bearing the Pontiac logo in its center. An AM radio sits front and center in the dash for era-appropriate looks, while just underneath the driver's seat, a Kenwood AM/FM CD system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity is ready to provide the audio options you're looking for.
This Firebird carries some serious power to go along with its top tier aesthetics. A 455-cubic inch V8 sits under the hood. It offers more than sheer displacement - although we're certainly big fans of that-having been professionally rebuilt by Wayne Calvert Engines of Denton, Texas. The big block has been bored .30 over and now features an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold and carb. With just a little over 2000 miles under its belt, it's just getting broken in and runs great. To handle all that power, a Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission renowned for its anvil-like durability joins a Center Force II clutch in the drivetrain, while an Auburn limited slip differential sits in back to insure that output reaches the asphalt as intended. To add an increased measure of reliability, both the fuel system and suspension feature a substantial number of replaced parts. This exceptional Pontiac classic sits on a set of 15" PMD wheels carrying BF Goodrich TA radials.
