1964 Pontiac Grand Prix

2-door hardtop

Private sale of a gorgeous and well documented 1964 Pontiac Grand Prix.

Such a beautiful car. It just gleams and glistens.

Vehicle history:

Vehicle was purchased 30-plus years ago in Washington state from the original owner by the owner of a prominent auto body shop. He bought it for his mother and refinished it in MonteCarlo Bronze for her. The car was a gift to her and although she didn’t drive much, she enjoyed having it. Eventually, it was then sold to the third owner, a member of a local car-club. Some of the members travelled every few years to Idaho and Washington to increase their collections. In this collection, the car found a great home. The car was shown at many events, cruises, and even used in parades. All the members of this particular car club were fairly elderly and, with time... the club membership soon dwindled. The car was stored for many years, mostly unused but still cherished and maintained. When I bought the car, the owners were very sad to see it go. I should elaborate... My wife actually bought the car. I just picked it up. I couldn't believe my eyes. It is such a beautifully kept machine. What a cherry find!!! I can't find enough words to describe how marvellous I think it is. The wife of the owner explained to me what joy it brought them, and what fun times they had with their friends in their car club. She missed everyone but understood that those times have passed with the old members. The car has won it’s fair share of awards over the years but, they were kept by the previous owners and didn’t come with the car when we bought it.

Engine:

The original 389 engine was rebuilt and has less than 5000 gentle miles. It was done professionally. This was a high-quality rebuild and, should be noted, was done to a well running engine. The goal was to refresh and detail both the engine and engine bay to a new level for the shows they were regularly attending.

Transmission:

The original transmission was replaced, in favour of a 200R4 from a Buick Grand National. It has approximately 5000 miles (same as engine), and was rebuilt at the same time as the engine. The lower 1st gear really make the car come alive, and the overdrive makes it a wonderful highway cruiser.

Interior:

Although it was in very decent condition, the original interior was replaced with all new high-quality reproduction pieces. This includes the carpet, seat covers, package tray, and many many other pieces. It is really a highlight of this car. The only items that were not replaced were the door panels. They are in very good shape. But, even with that said, new ones areincluded. They are wrapped up and in the trunk.

Additional general information:

At this point in my description, I would normally do a walk around the car and note imperfections. However, there’s really nothing that I find mentionable. Overall, it’s an outstanding car and something that really saddens me to have to sell. I know it will bring somebody else a lot of pride though.

We have two sets of tires and wheels for the car. I photographed it with both to give you a choice. It has the original wheels with brand new BFG tires, which look great. Unless otherwise specified, these will go with the car. It also has a set of Cragar SS wheels, with brand new Cooper Cobra tires, that look great too. If you want these, please add $1500 to the purchase price. Take your pick, and let us know.

So I guess, that brings us here. We are letting this car go with a super lowRESERVE. We're very motivated to sell. Please understand, that’s a big decision. Only thing I ask is that you, as the buyer, please be considerate of our request for a simple and easy transaction.

SHIPPING/DELIVERY:

I’d say that, in our experience, most (maybe 75%) American destinations fall between the 15-hundred to 2-thousand dollar range. To play safe, please budget for at least that amount. We are running an unreserved auction so, the savings should help offset any shipping/delivery costs. Please also note that, as mentioned, my wife has become pretty adept at making all the arrangements so you get your car as quickly as can be.

Titling and/or registrationEverything is perfectly transferrable and will be signed over and taken care of for you immediately following the sale. It is free to travel without restriction and titling is universal. The only extra cost is a $120-150 customs brokerage fee. My wife has everything ready to go for the car, and will only need your information filled in, once the sale is completed, to finalize the ownership.

I’m happy to answer any inquiries, so feel free to write. I welcome and encourage anyone’s questions. We welcome 3rd party inspections, and encourage them. As well, we invite anyone wishing to see in person and will happily accommodate. If you’d like to speak over the phone, please let me know and we’ll arrange a call. Good communication is pivotal to a happy transaction. If you prefer to email me directly, write to bravohomes@rocketmail.com

Procedure is very important to us and we have a perfect little system that has proven very simple and effective in making everyone happy.

It goes as follows:

  • Immediately following the sale, I will ask for your buyer’s information.
  • My wife will fill in all the paperwork and title transfer.
  • Completed paperwork will be scanned and sent to you.
  • Once received, you validate the information as being correct, and confirm.
  • Then, my wife sends the banking transfer information. You’ll have 48 hours to go to your bank and make a transfer. (We understand oftentimes it takes more than 48 hours for transfer to go through, and that’s alright).
  • After payment is received, she gets to work arranging transportation/delivery.

Simple as that.

Now, just so that everyone is aware, we are not willing to deviate from our little system. We deviated twice, and been defrauded twice. If, for any reason, this does not work for you, we’ll assume that something isn’t “right” and we ask you do not bid.

Check our feedback.

IT IS YOUR BEST RESOURCE.

Each and every one is for a 30-60 year old car or truck.

You’ll see that nobody is just “happy”.

Everyone is OVERJOYED.

Good luck fellow enthusiasts and happy bidding!!!
