1981 Pontiac Trans Am for Sale - 2 door 4.9L Turbo - Buyer is responsible for picking up or shipping.
This was a fantastic car for me in high school and I always hoped to rebuild it from the ground up, but with a few life changes it doesn't seem like it will happen any time soon. The car has some problems which I will list down below. It will take a bit of effort, but I believe it is restorable and not just a parts car.
History of the car, to the best of my knowledge: It was bought new by the original owner and he drove it for a while, but eventually switched to another car for daily driving. The Trans Am sat in his back yard until I got it. Replaced all the fluids, did a lot of work on it, and got it running again. Ran great for a couple years in high school until one day while driving on the freeway the car started shaking left to right really badly. Pulled off the freeway shut it down and when trying to start it back up it would start. Car then sat in my parents back yard for about 7 years and now I am trying to sell it.
Known/Unknown Problems:- I do not know what the reason for the shaking was or why the car didn't restart- While being in my parents back yard it became a nest for rats. I have vacuumed out the interior and done my best to clean it up but I do not know what damage they might have caused to the wiring or anything else.- Obviously from the pictures the paint needs to be redone as well- The Electric window control is broken- Center console storage has no hinge or lock and is slightly warped.- Gas gauge does not work- Back right tire is missing a wheel stud, we still have the lug nut though- There is some body rot by the T-Tops- Cables for the turbo indicator in the hood look to be chewed- Driver side door handle is cracked- Interior roof is falling off- Rear carpet has one really worn spotI believe that is it but having been a few years since I have driven it I don't remember everything.
