1956 Pontiac Chieftain 2 door hardtop
1956 Pontiac Chieftain
1956 Pontiac Chieftain 2-door hardtop. Just over 92k miles on original 316ci 5.2L V8 motor with Hydra-matic trans. Car runs and drives very well. Handles well on the highway at 55 – 65mph.
I have replaced a lot of the chrome/stainless including NOS front grille(small dent), and re-chromed lower front bumper valance. Front elbow bumper covers and bullets were taken off another vehicle and are in very nice shape.Brand new door handles and drivers side mirror. Rear bumpers and rear waterfall moldings were taken from another vehicle but they do have small pits and few scratches. Trunk emblem was replaced with NOS. Car has an amateur paint job…was stripped down and had some body work done on hood, rockers, doors etc. Sanded and sprayed with Hot Rod FlatzCopper Pearl Metallic from TCP global. Trunk, under hood, and door jambs were not painted. Paint is bubbling in a few small spots near rockers and there are some imperfections, small dent in driver’s rocker but overall looks nice for a driver. Stainless trim is in nice shape, chrome trim around side glass is pitted.
Interior is decent. Seats, carpet, and headliner are not ripped and are in nice shape. Dash needs to be painted, door panels are aged/stained. I installed a Pioneer Stereo/CD in the glove box, Kicker 6x9’s in the rear deck, and kick panel speakers. Original radio works, just disconnected from antenna. Speedometer and odometer are in working order. Gas gauge is working, but not very accurate. All other gauges do not work. Only heat is from defroster, under seat heater not working. All exterior lights/signals and vacuum wipers are in working order,
Work done within the past 3 years…Gas tank was removed and replaced with a 15gal fuel cell in the trunk. Fuel pump should probably be rebuilt or replaced in the near future, seals are seeping and sometimes starts a little slow after sitting for a while but works fine once running. Recent exhaust with Flowmaster muffler and dual chrome 3” rolled tips. Flange gaskets were replaced but there is a slight exhaust leak from manifold gaskets.Just installed new master cylinder, brakes are decent. Front end was rebuilt (tie rod ends, upper and lower bushings, stabilizer links etc). New rear wheel seals done last year. New American Racing Torque Thrust 17” wheels w/Falcon tires. Also have set of original steel wheels and tires with Pontiac hub caps. Will include new car cover. Due for another tune up and oil change soon.
Tried to include as much info as I could think of... Email me with any questions. Car is a nice little Sunday driver that needs some TLC. Drive it as is or would be a great start for a restoration. I don’t have the time or space for it anymore.Has clean NH title.
Selling as is. Buyer is responsible for pick up or shipping. $500 deposit required via PayPal at auction end. Remaining balance due when picked up. Cash only. Thanks!
