1979 Pontiac Trans Am

This auction is for a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am. Unlike most Trans Am's of this vintage, this car has not been modified, abused or damaged. It has it's original engine, trans, etc and is still it's original color inside and out. The engine was rebuilt at a local hot rod shop by the previous owner as was the trans(Turbo 400) and rear end. The door and trunk weather stripping are new so no wind or water leaks. The cooling system has been upgraded with thermo controlled electric fans(original fan included). The suspension bushings and body mounts have been replaced with polyurethane. Everything on this Trans Am works-all the gauges(even the clock!), lights, switches, etc. The interior looks fantastic and is near flawless(except for a dash cap and a flaw in the steering wheel), the headliner, parcel tray, carpet, door panels, etc all look great. The stereo has been upgraded with one from Classic AutoSound-it looks origina, but is fully digital and will play Ipods, etc.
Even most of the paint on this Trans Am is original. At some point the rear bumper faded and was resprayed as was a lower portion of the fender. This Trans Am has never been damaged or rusty and has been a California car since new. This Trans Am runs well and starts easily hot or cold. It doesn't smoke or leak and is ready to drive and enjoy. Due to the upgraded cooling, it runs cool, even in traffic on a not day. Whenever I drive this Pontiac, it gets thumbs up, waves and attention. At the Cars and Coffee, everyone has a story and fond memories of these cars and their past. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this one anywhere. Even though its not a fire breather like a SD455 or Ram Air 400, it has it's own appeal as it can be driven anytime. Another benefit is that it is smog legal in California and has a current smog cert and registration. The trunk has the original jack, compact spare and fill bottle. All the glass is nice and everything is clean and original under the hood, trunk, inside, etc. Is it perfect? No, an AC pipe was damaged when the engine was pulled for the rebuild. Everything is there and would probably work if the pipe is replaced. There are the usual scrapes, dings, etc that you would expect on an original car from 1979. Although it shows well, apply new paint and you are ready to win local shows.
The original Snowflake alloys are in nice shape and the tires have plenty of tread-although they are fairly old.
In shirt, this is a great chance to pick up a cool classic Trans Am that can be enjoyed now at a reasonable price. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
