The Pontiac Catalina is an automobile which was part of Pontiac’s full-sized line from 1950 to 1981. Initially, he name was used strictly to denote hardtop body styles, irst appearing in the 1950 Chieftain Eight and DeLuxe Eight lines. In 1959, he Catalina became a separate model, s the “entry-level” full-size Pontiac, win tailfins, wo on each side, ere new and only in 1959 . For 1959, ontiac dropped the name “Chieftain” for its entry level model and renamed it “Catalina”. The 1959 Pontiac’s featured a new styling trademark – the “split grille” which easily distinguished a Pontiac from any other car on the highway.
Finished in code correct Gulfstream blue with a white power convertible top, aint overall shows well with some minor imperfections visible upon close inspection. This car is a driver, ot a garage queen and as such does show some minor chips and light surface scratches as to be expected on a car with an older paint finish that has been driven and enjoyed. Body is extremely straight with excellent panel fit and alignment. Both the front and rear bumpers are in good condition with nice older chrome and good fit to the body fit. All other trim and brightwork is present and in good shape, n line with the overall condition of the car.
Inside, he two tone blue/green seats show well having been reupholstered professionally in the recent past with no major signs of wear visible, note: minor tear on rear seat). The dash is painted medium blue and presents well as do the door panels which are upholstered in the same color scheme as the seats. All the original gauges are present and functioning with the exception of the speedometer. The steering wheel is original with functioning horn and is in excellent condition. The power convertible operates properly. Those in search of a highly original and very driveable example of this iconic model will be hard pressed to do better than this elegant and amazingly well kept 59 Catalina convertible.
This Catalina comes equipped with the 389 cid V8 engine, atted with a Hydra-Matic 4 speed automatic transmission, nd features power steering, ower brakes and 14 inch steel wheels with full Pontiac wheel covers wrapped in Coker Classic wide whitewalls. Car starts, uns and drives well and boasts a nicely presented, orrect and recently detailed engine compartment.
