This beautiful steel 1933 Plymouth Highboy Roadster is a super nice Street Rod with a history we traced back to 1970, nd a complete overhaul and restoration done by the previous owner of 14 years in 2009!
You couldn’t possibly build a car with the top-quality components this one has for the price, nd this car is proven and reliable with a recent 300 mile trip under its belt!

DESCRIPTION
Who doesn’t just LOVE a HiBoy roadster?
The iconic look of this style car turns heads at every car show, nd even non-car types are drawn to its authentic Hot Rod appearance.
This particular HiBoy is an extremely rare 1933 Plymouth, nd it has a style, harm, nd class all its own to set it apart from the sea of Fords at the car shows.
The prior owner bought the car in 2001, nd at that time it was a cool looking build done in the 70’s by Okolona Performance in Louisville, Y. The car was show quality, s the photo shown below will attest, ut with the Centerline dish wheels, tired 400ci motor, nusual flame finish, nd a worn white button tuck interior, he car was in need of some upgrades.
As happens with cars, ou get busy driving and enjoying them, nd all the sudden you realize 9 years went past without you changing a thing! That’s what happened here, o in 2009 the prior owner stripped the car down to the last nut and bolt, nd spent a year doing it up to be the stunning machine you see in the 100 photos below!
Once the body was removed from the frame, t was decided that the original rails and suspension was too outdated to save, o the entire rolling chassis was scrapped, nd a brand new custom tube chassis was specially designed and fabricated for the car by Schroeder, o make the new car ready for the 21st Century and beyond!
As you can see in the build photos, verything was redone in a more modern, nified, nd show-quality style where no expense was spared.
The four bar unit from Pete & Jakes had its mounts integrated into the frame, long with the mounts for the shocks and polished panhard bar. The Flaming River rack was selected just for the car, o it was seamlessly integrated in as well.
Everything affixed to the chassis was selected to go on it, o the mounts and lines, nd everything associated with those parts was SPECIFICALLY integrated into the design of the frame. It is beautiful.
The work is top quality, nd once it was finished, he entire thing got covered in multiple coats of Porsche Guards Red paint, hich was carefully finished to a show-quality level.
The entire powertrain was scrapped, long with the suspension system, nd reassembly began to take place.
A brand new GMPP Goodwrench 350ci block was purchased, nd the motor was hand built with all new components to create a manageable 330hp engine that didn’t sacrifice power or reliability, nd could manage a long-haul as easily as a cruise night.
The engine is a 4-bolt main, pc. Seal unit, nd was fit with a mild CRANE hydraulic street cam, orged pistons, .5:1 compression, 50 ft lbs of torque at @ 3700rpm, owdered metal connecting rods, 6cc heads, nd all-new internals and seals.
It was fitted with an Edelbrock intake and 600cfm carb with LOKAR throttle controls, nd dressed with show chrome Edelbrock valve covers and custom milled air cleaner with washable filter.
A chrome fuel pump, hrome high-torque starter, nd tons of other shiny bits keep it looking good, nd HOOKER headers connect to Flowmaster style mufflers and an all new custom polished exhaust to help it breathe and bark. The exhaust could use a bit of polishing again before you put it on a show mirror, ut it looks and function GREAT!
A custom aluminum radiator is actually overkill for the car, nd it does not even come CLOSE to overheating!
Hoses, lamps, nd all that good stuff is new as of 2010/2011, s are the complete new wiring, arness, nd modern fuse units.
Braided lines handle most of the fluid transfer on the car, nd plugs and plug wires were just done by us during our inspection and servicing of the car.
We also did a complete fluid service, o that you know where you are starting out at with the car for maintenance.
A GM 350 turbo transmission was selected for the car, nd was completely rebuilt before being installed in the car.
A custom made and balanced driveshaft connects it to the Speedway SUPERMAX Quick-Change 10-BOLT POSI-TRAC rear end currently fitted with 4.11 gears for outrageous fun around town! Swap out some highway friendly units, nd this car is ready to go on that cross-country trip you’ve been SWEARING to do one of these days!
You’ll also note TSM DRIVESHAFT Disc Brake parking brake set-up, hich is awesome!
31 spline axles mate to disc brakes out back, omplete with polished calipers, ard and braided stainless lines, he Wilwood proportioning valve that is perfectly adjusted to the car, nd a Pete & Jakes FOUR BAR unit.
Up front, he car got a new Flaming River steering rack, ete & Jakes show-polished tubular A-Arms, od ends, nd fittings, olished calipers and show plates, nd the same combo of hard and braided stainless line used in the rest of the car.
Pete & Jakes were also tapped to supply the ALDAN built gas-charged adjustable coil-over shocks sitting at all four corners. They keep the stance just right, nd give the car a PERFECT combination of smooth ride and handling prowess.
The frame is stout, nd is the perfect base for this machine. I can’t imagine you doing anything to break or damage it, nd like the rest of the car, t shows only the lightest signs of normal use and enjoyment over the years.
Pressure wash and detail the undercarriage, nd it would be worthy of a show mirror at any event! Right now, t looks clean and presents well, s you can see in the photos.
Inside the car, he original dash was fit with a custom made gauge pod that holds functional gauges for FUEL/TEMP/OIL/VOLTS and a functional Speedometer with odometer that is only about 2 mph slow when compared to GPS.
Odometer shows 722 miles, hich is what it has since it was redone in 2010.
Dash also has an AM/FM CD player that sounds great through the two speakers hidden under the dash in a custom enclosure that provides some bass notes to your music.
There is also a functional 12V outlet that holds a cigar lighter with a skull figurine on it.
The carpet looks brand new, nd is marine grade water resistant material professionally banded and installed over layers of sound and heat insulation. There are zero flaws with it.
The kick panels, oor panels, ide panels, nd seats are all done in medium Camel marine grade leather with red piping and modern pleating, nd they look FANTASTIC! There are no rips, ears, r seam pulls on the interior, nd it still shows and smells like new leather inside!
Seat is super comfy too, nd has seatbelts for two passengers as well as some storage area under its base.
Billet interior door handles look like new, s does the satin finished rear-view mirror.
LOKAR supplied the swan neck shifter arm, nd the chrome E-Brake handle, oth with decorative mounting plates. E-Brake is not currently functioning.
A billet pull on the left side of the dash works the parking and fog lights, ith a foot controlled hi-beam switch.
The silver switch closest to the driver operates the power trunk lift, nd the one on the right is for a power cowl vent the prior owner wanted to do, ut never got around to. It would be good for any switchable accessory you want to add down the road.
Billet aluminum drops hold the Flaming River tilt steering column, hich has billet arms for the tilt and signal controls. There is also a drop mounted TACH that is unobtrusive to the occupants, ut easy to see at a glance while driving.
A black leather GRANT GT steering wheel is easy to command this machine with, nd looks fantastic too!
LOKAR spoon gas pedal, nd a reworked FORD brake pedal round things out, nd the little rubber insert on the brake pedal fell out at some point and has vanished! Easy enough to cut one to fit when you get it home, r just use it like it is!
Lift the power trunk, nd you’ll find more of the interiors custom banded carpeting and camel leather, ll of which is in exceptional condition.
Remove the easy-access rear panel, nd you will see a NHRA approved aluminum fuel cell with vent that holds 15 gallons, he new (2015) battery, nd some of the complete new wiring, arness, use system, nd other electrical goodies on the car.
The fuel cap has a no-spill safety cap you don’t have to remove to use, nd it functions as it should.
Don’t worry about trunk access should the battery die, ecause the car has auxiliary charging and jump points under it and a power trunk release wired directly to it!
The outside of the car is finished in the same beautiful Porsche Guards Red, nd it looks great!
The prior owner passed away a year ago, nd the car sat under a cover in the garage for about a year and half before I bought it. It shows wonderfully, s you can see in the photos, ut it does have some normal use blemishes and marks on it, ome of which will probably disappear when you take the time to detail and clean the car, hich we haven’t.
It is NOT a $100,000 flawless and perfect finish, ut I don’t want $100,000 for it either. Small scuff marks, aint chips, nd things like that won’t take away from the cars overall presentation, ut I want you to know that if FLAWLESS and 100% PERFECT is your thing, ou’ll need to pay a lot more for a car!
I have put 100 photos of the car on this ad, nd will gladly take 100 more if you need them. LOOK AT THE PHOTOS. You can blow each one up to practically life size! I am not trying to hide anything, nd try to show every possible angle of a car so you can make the right decision. I have been collecting 100% HAPPY customers on eBay for a long time, nd want to continue to do so!
All of the louvers are hand stamped, nd look amazing on the car! They were done in the 70’s into the original sheetmetal.
The car has chrome framed red with blue-dot tail lamps with integrated signals, nd everything looks and works like it should.
Headlamps are giant chrome units, nd look and work perfectly too, ncluding high and low beam. Wiring for them is braided stainless and run into the frame itself for a clean and neat look.
The chrome side lamps function as the front turn signals now, nd look and work great!
Polished side mirror looks good, nd has a convex mini mirror to give you a clear view of everything you are passing!
Original chrome door handles were kept, nd only show a light sign of use and age, ut who cares! They are original to the car!!!
The convertible top is like new and consists of heavy duty canvas custom made for the car off the original top design so it fits perfectly with the chopped windscreen.
Rear window is clean and pretty, ith only light markings and signs of use.
Frame is the original unit that came with the car, lthough it was cleaned, lasted, ainted, nd fit with new hardware.
Two latches keep it firmly in place, nd two people can drop it in about 20 seconds, nd put it up in the same.
There are no rips, ears, eam pulls, r damage on the top, nd it functions as it should.
There is a boot for the top, ut it is in the original white color, nd shows some staining and damage from being kept in the attic for a few years. It would be easy enough to use it to have another made if you want, ut really, he car looks great without it! Anyway, t is included regardless.
It rides on gorgeous chrome CRAGAR wheels wrapped in like-new BFGoodrich Radial TA tires size 195/60R15 up front, nd 285/70R15 out back.
Stance is spot on, nd the car looks mean just sitting still!
The car starts easily, dles cleanly, oesn’t smoke, oesn’t leak, nd doesn’t weep.
It is ready to go when you are, nd I have personally just put about 300 miles on the car this past weekend in a mix of highway and urban driving, nd it performed PERFECTLY!!!
The car has a ton of power off the line, ill smoke tire for days if that is your cup of tea, nd has incredible road manners to boot!
In town, homp on the gas pedal at any speed and power is there to do whatever you need to, rom passing a slow car to doing a powerslide!
It is happy at about 55 mph with the 4.11 gears, ut the beauty of the SUPERMAX Quick change is, ou can alter that by an easy gear swap to whatever size you want to buy!
I cruised it long and hard on that trip, nd it rides wonderfully, andles easily, uns perfectly, nd didn’t do one single funny, eird, r odd thing the entire time!
It is one of the best running rods I have had the pleasure to drive in a while, nd I think whoever gets it will have a blast taking it to shows and events across the Country!
