1941 Plymouth Deluxe Business Coupe (no rear seat)
1941 Plymouth Model P11 Business Coupe
1941 Plymouth Deluxe P11 business coupe, smooth-running numbers-matching flat head 201 cubic inch 6-cylinder engine mated to 3-speed column-shifted manual transmission. Mostly stock original survivor except for one re-paint in the original black color and re-chromed bumpers. Very solid rust-free body, floors, and X-frame with an all-original interior except for new rubber flooring. This is a true businessman's coupe as built from the factory (one of 15,862 produced) with just a front bench seat for the driver and passenger(s) and no rear seat in order to allow maximum cargo space behind front seat. Amazingly, this P11 coupe appears to have most of its original factory-installed parts under the hood including the 6-volt generator, starter, single-barrel Carter Ball & Ball carburetor with oil-bath air cleaner, distributor, ignition coil, radiator, and dual "Air-Tune" horns. Included in the trunk are a factory bumper jack with tire iron and a tire removal tool along with an engine hand crank. Also included with this classic are an owner's manual, service manual, wiring diagram, parts manual, and a copy of the microfiche Service Record (build card) obtained from Chrysler historical records, as well as numerous Plymouth dealer sales brochures in addition to six laminated 1941 LIFE magazine full-page Plymouth advertisements.
As documented by the Service Record, this Plymouth Deluxe Coupe was built at the Evansville, Indiana assembly plant on April 30, 1941 with a Briggs-Ind. Body No. 313-A 6534 and Motor No. P11-410936. The vehicle was delivered the very next day on May 1, 1941 to the Armstrong-Welborn dealership in near-by Princeton, Indiana. The only item listed as "Special Equipment" on the build card was an "A.T. Horn" (optional dual 'Air-Tune' horns). This pre-war classic is also equipped with several non-standard items like factory running boards, bumper fender guards, driver sideview mirror, ventilator windows, dual sun visors, dual windshield wipers, and a "Mopar Deluxe" heater.
Although the 5-digit odometer currently reads 52,730 miles, the true actual mileage is unknown. However, based on its great condition, it is certainly possible this is the actual mileage. I would classify this Plymouth as a good solid unmolested vehicle that is ready to drive and enjoy just as it is. All gauges, lights, and accessories work as they should and all glass is good except for a crack in the driver door window. Several repairs/replacements have been made after the vehicle was taken out of a long term 'hibernation' in 2017 including radiator and brake repairs, new 6-volt battery, new fuel tank with sending unit, new 6.00 - 16" Coker wide whitewall tires, new windshield wiper vacuum motor, new cowl ventilator seal, and new spark plugs. I also have the parts (sockets and bulbs) necessary to install an aftermarket new-in-the-box 6-volt turn signal switch utilizing some of the factory wiring.
