WELCOMEto NAMCmopar's on-line store! Are you looking for an investment of collectible metal? BUY THIS 1964 Red Rocket! This is a customer's 1964 Dodge 426 Max Wedge Tribute "STREET WEDGE" on a 440-model b-body for auction. You are looking at a beautiful red and white period correct tribute custom build in honor of America's RARE factory Dodge 426 Stage III Max Wedge Drag Race Cars! She's a push button automatic, 2 door hardtop with roll cage, shortie exhaust and fat meats. This car's base body had 114k miles prior to the restoration, and since resto' there's about 200 miles added going to and from, out and about, to fair weather car events.
NEVER RACED:Car's restoration was about historical reference and has not been raced, just so you know :0)
THIS CAR'S HISTORY:This professionally restored car was completed about 8 years ago and has been a loved local-show winner. Car's been featured in SUPER ROD magazine! She's Famous! New buyer will get one of these issues to enjoy too. This car is a show winning crowd pleaser and won "best in show" at the 2023 Portland Oregon Roadster Show out of more than 30 in the same class! She's well maintained by the Mopar snobs at North American Muscle Cars in Portland Oregon. She's enjoyed living an easy and comfortable life with an owner who appreciates her inside a heated and secure garage.
THE BUILD:Exterior and interior of car is bright red and white. What a looker! Clean, crisp and beautiful up close. The nice paint brings eyes to her but it's her amazing engine compartment that brings out the Ohhh's and Aahhh's. This build sports a (very rare!) original working 426 Stage III Max Wedge engine top-end with a cross-ram aluminum intake manifold set-up, dual carbs and twin air cleaners. As a side note: If you are thinking of building one of these instead of buying this one that is ready to go, we suggest you spend time researching and pricing out an original Max Wedge 426 cross ram engine topper set up! Just try it...
We believe it would be in everyone's best interest if you, as a potential buyer, flew into Portland Oregon (PDX) to visit and view this car in person before final purchase. HISTORY of THE MAX WEDGE:The term 440-model that we use is a nod to this build's b-body base, a 1964 Dodge 440-model car (many call this a Polara) available only between 1962 to 1964. That's the same year spread the Chrysler Corporation produced the Max Wedge engine. That term Max Wedge is a description for the RACE ONLY 426 Wedge engines. Formerly known as The Maximum Performance Wedge. The 1963 and 1964 Dodge Polara body styles have provided racers and collectors with a magical life on the speed tracks of Americana race enthusiast history during a time when cubic engine size was all about 'go bigger means go faster' They found SCARY power to launch cars down the straight away and jokey for placement around the circle tracks - many sporting light weigh body panels for just-a-bit-less weight which meant just-a-bit-more speed.
THE DODGE B-BODY:Dodge B-bodies like this one came as a 2 door post sedan, 2 door hardtop (no post between front and rear side windows), 4 door post sedan, 4 door hardtop, 4 door wagon. This car is a 2 door hardtop, and there is no post between front and rear windows. The roll-bar inside cab is painted body color red, and some people have confused that with a post car when looking at photos. Please take note of this.
