1967 Plymouth Fury Sport Fury

1967 Plymouth Sport Fury fast top 383 auto A/C

Up for sale is my 1967 Plymouth Sport Fury which I have owned for 4 years. At some points, it was a weekend cruiser and at other times it was my daily driver. The car has always been reliable and gets thumbs-up from people wherever I take it.It’s red with a black vinyl top and a red interior.

Engine

383 big block. From the factory, the car had a 2bbl carburetor but now has a 4bbl Holley and a 4bbl Edelbrock intake manifold. I do not have the original manifold or carb, it was not with the car when I purchased it. The engine runs strong and sounds great.

Transmission and Rear End

727 TorqueFlite automatic, column shifted. Shifts smoothly. I changed the flushed the fluid and changed the filter about a year ago.The rear is an 8 ¾ Sure-Grip with 2.76 ratio.

Brakes

Front disc (aftermarket) and rear drum. The front disc setup is from Stainless Steel Braking Company (SSBC). I changed the rotors and pads about a year ago. At that time, I also put in a new brake booster. The car stops perfectly.

Exterior and Wheels

The paint is red (factory color but I believe the car had been repainted prior to my owning it) and it has a black vinyl top. Both the paint and vinyl top are in very good shape. All chrome trim is present and in great condition. All exterior lights work properly.Factory 14” steel wheels with Plymouth dog dish hubcaps and Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires, size 225/70R14. Included with the purchase of the car is a set of original 14” wheel covers that were exclusive to Sport Furys.

Interior

The factory red interior shows very nicely. There is a small rip on the passenger seat, a small tear in the headliner almost directly above the driver’s head, and a crack in the dash, at about the midpoint. The speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge, temp gauge, and alternator gauge all work properly. The clock does not work and the radio turns on (it gets power) but doesn’t work. There is a crack on the dash under the steering column where the fresh air vent cables mount. This is a factory A/C car and all of the associated parts are present. I have never tried to charge the system (I don’t care about A/C, I just open the windows and go fast). The weather-stripping around the doors and windows is old and lets in moisture in heavy rain / during washes. The driver's carpet has gotten wet before, and shows signs of wear because of it.

Items Included with the Purchase of the Vehicle
  • 14” Sport Fury wheel covers – these were on the vehicle when I bought it. I changed to dog dishes just based on preference.
  • C-body radiator – I got this radiator for free, figuring if I ever needed it, it would be there on the shelf for me. The radiator in the car works perfectly, but this one is included in the sale anyway.
  • 383 engine gasket set – with the mileage approaching 100k, I anticipated doing a rebuild in the future so I bought the gaskets preemptively.
  • 1967 Plymouth shop manual
Recent Work
  • Factory power steering gearbox was rebuilt.
  • New ignition system installed (it was a kit from Summit). This includes ignition module, ignition coil, ignition wires, spark plugs and a cleanup of associated wires.
  • Turn signal switch was replaced. At this time, the cancel cam does not seem to work properly so I have to manually move the lever back to the neutral position to turn off the blinker.
