1970 PLYMOUTH AAR ‘CUDA 2-DOOR HARDTOP

Introduced mid-year to further capitalize on public interest in Plymouth’s Trans Am campaign, the AAR ‘Cuda, specified by All American Racers hero Dan Gurney, attracted a whole group of road racing fans to the Mopar ranks. Only 1,120, 4-speed, AAR Cudas left the factory with a fresh air 290-horsepower 340 Six Pack, Sure Grip Positraction rear end, heavy duty suspension front and rear sway bars and power front disc brakes as standard equipment. The AAR also shared a couple of unique features with its Challenger T/A counterpart: chromed megaphone side exhausts and larger G60-15 Goodyear Polyglas rear tires.

This ’70 AAR 4-speed has a matching number "TA" date correct engine block. It is entirely correct including the heads, manifolds and carburetors. The remainder of the car has been brought as close to original as possible and all body numbers match.

Equipped with its 340 6 barrel motor, it is also equipped with the legendary "D21" heavy duty manual transmission with power brakes and manual steering. The interior of this “Cuda is done in black vinyl, is equipped with "A62" rally pack instrument cluster and "N85" tachometer with wood grain dash. Among the most unique and distinctive characteristics of the AAR are the mat wood grain dash and the mat black fiberglass hood and fresh air hood scoop with tie down pins, perfectly accented by the Lemon Twist Yellow. A very rare option on this particular AAR Cuda is the "A21" not often seen colored front bumper. Being an AAR it comes factory equipped with the 26” radiator as well. Having been extensively restored from the ground up, the FY1 paint has been sanded and polished to a show quality shine and the interior shows beautifully.
