Description:

1938 Plymouth PT57

1938 Plymouth Pickup. This truck was disassembled about 10 years ago in preparation for a frame off restoration. The frame was sandblasted and painted. Most drivetrain components are new, including: Drums were turned, Brakes relined, new wheel cylinders, new master cylinder, new brake lines, brake hoses, u-joints, Springs, Shackles, muffler, tailpipe, Good Year 6.00 - 16 tires installed. The seat was re-upholstered, not installed. Engine work included, removing head, to replace gasket and paint prior to installation. The carburetor was rebuilt, new points, new condenser, radiator was flushed, pressure tested and painted. The motor was fired back at that time. Also some body work was performed back then, then the project set for about 7 years. When I got it the cab was just setting on the frame, the bed was leaning against the wall, and parts were scattered everywhere. I replaced the cab corners, lower back of cab and lower cowls with new patch panels. The splash Aprons are also new. The 17 gallon fuel cell is also new with new fuel line. The seat was re-installed and there is a new interior backing kit installed, which includes, headliner, A pillars, Cab Corners, Door Cards and Kick Panels. All rusted metal has been repaired with new metal. The Running Boards are also new. The Speedometer and Odometer work fine. The other gauge cluster had been stored in a container that got wet. While that gauge cluster is included, I'd say its toast. Ihave added aftermarketoil pressure, water temperature and fuel gauges. The windshield frame was repaired and painted and a new safety glass windshield installed. The windshield regulator and handle are there but the regulator mechanism is froze up. It was also stored in the container that got wet. The windshield still swings out with ease as the hinges are free. The Cowl Vent works as it should. The door handles were also in the container that got wet but should clean up. The motor carries about 30 lbs of oil pressure at idle, and runs about 180-190 degrees. The headlight buckets, trim rings and bulbs are there. But I didn't find the cast mounts to hang the headlights on the grille shell. Also the horn button didn't make it home with me. Pretty much everything else is there, including the nice grille and hood ornament pictured. The original engine crank is there and a bonus the "front Bumper A Bar Grille Guard" (I see one on eBay currently asking $1095.95 with 57 people watching!). I can probably answer any questions you might have. The truck was built at the Detroit factory in 1938 and was # 457 of only 7,148 built that year. Feel free to ask for any specific pictures. I also have video of the truck running and driving. The interior kit is PVC foam board it can be painted or covered with your choice of fabric. Upholsterers have been using closed cell foam for years as it is durable and water proof..
