Description:

1971 Plymouth Road Runner Base

Up for sale is a beautiful 1971 Plymouth RoadRunner F7 Green Poly, 383 HP, 727 Automatic car with the N96 Air Grabber option and track pack. Car has been completely restored from top to bottom. The car was restored and put back true to the fender tag, as far as options go with the exception of switching it over to front disc brakes from drum. Everything else is just as it was originally equipped.
I purchased this car about 5 years ago in the non running condition and in need of complete restoration. I began work on it about 3 years ago and it has just been completed this spring. We worked on it between other work.
The car was completely disassembled. completely. I replaced the floor pans and the rear under seat pan. The left frame rail and apron assembly was replaced. The trunk pan had some pinholes, so it was also replaced. Both rear quarter panels were replaced, along with the wheel housings and the trunk drop offs. All replacement sheet metal supplied from AMD.
The doors are original 1971 doors, as are the fenders, the roof, trunk lid and hood. The body was sandblasted and coated with PPG epoxy sealer prior to bodywork, and again before paint. The car came to me with a standard RoadRunner hood on it, so I sourced a standard hood and did the modification for the reproduction Air Grabber hood bulge and complete Air Grabber setup, this puts the car back to matching the fender tag again.
The car was painted twice, on purpose. The first time it was painted with single stage PPG Concept urethane inside and out, then assembled, then wet block sanded after a 2 week cure time. The car's exterior was then final painted with PPG base coat / clear coat and then buffed to an amazing gloss. While this is an expensive way to paint a car, the final product shows the extra effort and expense given.
The interior is all brand new. The seat covers and door panels were supplied by Legendary Interiors. There is new seat foam installed. The carpet is new and installed over DEI sound barrier and the jute underlayment. The lower door trim panels were replaced as well as the seat backs. The dashpad is brand new. The Rallye Instrument cluster was a used part sourced from a car that was disassembled over 25 years ago and put on a shelf. The wiring looked like it was brand new! I had to change it because the original cluster had been cut around the radio. The steering column has a new directional switch and new bearing. The sound of the RoadRunner NOS horn is installed and operable. The car is also equipped with an inside hood release. Manual windows and no A/C. Column shift and no console.
The engine is a 1970 383 HP engine, so it is NOT original to the car. It was completely disassembled and remanufactured. It had been rebuilt before I got the car, but I didn't trust guessing at what had been done to it,, so I had it gone through again. It is bored .030 over and has flat top pistons. The rotating assembly has been balanced. I installed a Lunati cam, part # 10230703, recommended by the tech at Lunati. The heads were also all redone and I had the matching valve springs installed for the cam. New timing chain set, new oil pump, new water pump, new fuel pump, etc. The intake and exhaust manifolds I sourced used. They are the correct part numbers and I tried to get close with the build dates. The carburetor was purchased from a vintage carburetor rebuilder / supplier I found online. The carburetor is the correct part number for this car. The choke stove is new, as are the control cables and the shift linkages. All steel fuel and brake lines were replaced with pre-formed lines from Inline Tube Co. The dual exhaust is all new and is the proper kit for this car. The mufflers are turbo. The tips are the stainless slotted style. The transmission is original to the car I think. It was rebuilt by a local transmission shopp and they verified it has the HD planetary in it. The kit I purchased also has the HD clutches and they installed a BM Shift Improver kit as well. The torque converter has a 2200 stall speed, to better mate with the camshaft chosen. The rear axle is original to the car and was in great condition. It is a 3:91 ratio SureGrip.
Tires and wheels are all brand new from Summit. The American Racing slots are 10" in the rear and 8" in the front. Tiers are brand new Cobras. Car has brand new springs in the rear and a set of air shocks, in case you want some rake. There is no air in them currently. The torsion bars are the original big block rated ones. The upper control arms are bran new assemblies. The lower control arms are original, but have all new bushings. All other joints in the front suspension have been replaced new.
Getting tired of typing. LOL.
Here's the deal. Every part on this car was removed, inspected and either rebuilt or replaced. Glass is original with exception of windshield. Stainless trim is original. Heck I even made the sound deadening spray on the inside of the quarters match the original pattern. Because of the engine I cannot tell you it is a numbers matching original 1000 point show car, but it is probably one of the nicest examples you will find anywhere.
There is no radio in the car, so you choose what to do there.

I would prefer this car to stay with an owner that would appreciate it in their collection, not go overseas.
It would not hurt my feelings whatsoever to keep this car, so I will not be entertaining any lowball offers or brokers wanting to help me sell it.
