Description:
1956 Plymouth Savoy
Selling my Mild Kustom 1956 Plymouth SavoyThis car is a driver and in no way a show car or restoration car.I have had this car for a little over a year and it was a fun build as a family car. I am finishing a station wagon and no longer have room for these 4 doors.I have driven this car over 3,000 miles in the last year with an 8hr, 1000 mile trip to Austin Texas under its belt as well. All lights and gauges (Including Speedo, Gas Gauge) work as they should. The car has a new ignition and fuel system and starts right up hot or cold. I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere. All rust holes were cut out and welded up, I won't say that it is rust free, but I did cut out any that I saw. The trim holes were all welded and sealed. When I bought the car, it ran poorly and smoked, I opened the engine up to find 2 bent push rods and a broken lifter (I assume from a backfire). I replace all pushrods and lifters and the carburetor, fuel pump and Switched the ignition from points to HEI. The car runs great now and has made a few 4hour + one-way trips. Car does Highway speeds, but I prefer to drive it around 65 MPH, car does not overheat even at 70+mph. All windows and Heater work Great!I have a Texas Title in my name and the car is registered as an Antique vehicle. Has Year Specific Texas platesThe car drives straight and has been aligned since lowered.I know I am leaving information ou, but please feel free to contact me with any questions.Thank you.Body:4 door sedan has been Nosed, Decked and shaved of all trimPaint:Main Body is painted with Hot Rod Flatz Firemist GreenFlames are a custom mix of Tropical Glitz 24k flakeFront Bumper is a 1958 Buick1959 re-pop Cadillac tail lights replaced reverse lights and wired as additional tail lightsRockers and fenders have had all of the rust repaired by weld in patch panelAll glass is intact and works perfectly. No cracks or delamination that I have noticed. There is a rock chip "Star" on the windshield that was professionally filled and not spreading, shown in picturesElectrical:Majority of wiring is originalNew ignition switchDolphin gauges, all connections heat shrunk and solderedAll Gauges work, dome light and all interior lights work as they shouldHorn has stopped working, and I have not tracked down whyHeater/defrost workAM Radio turns on, but the speaker is outGenerator was replaced with 80amp GM 1-wire alternator, but the original generator bracket is in place and the Alternator is held in place with an adapter bracket, Even uses the same BeltInterior:Interior is complete and original, but the foam and fabric are super dry and deteriorating. I have covered the seats with bench covers. The foam leaves a yellow dust because it is dry and old.The floors were originally vinyl covered, but have carpet installed over the stripped floorsRear seat belts were installed to hold the kid's car seats, but no front belts are in the carEngine:Factory 277 Poly engine:New water pump, thermostat, pushrods and lifters, new fuel pump and carburetor, Ignition is all new HEI distributor, 8mm plug wires and plugsTransmission is a 2 speed "Power Flite" with Push button selectorNew hoses and beltsSuspension:Ford Aerostar springs and shocks, with 3 inch lowering blocks for the rearBrakes are original manual Drums but work amazingly wellTires: newer radials with 1.5" grind-out whitewallThe Bad: the car is not perfect and has paint imperfections / rock chips.Body work is a 10-footer, garage quality paint jobThe interior is original and comfortable but If I kept the car I would want to re-do itOriginal cloth wrapped wiring scares me, but all ignition/run wires on the ignition cylinder have been replaced. The car does have a few drip leaks on Oil and the trans fluid that was dripping has stopped and I believe it is because I over filled it.Hot rod rat rod bagged slammed dropped Kustom customVehicle Details:
