1968 Plymouth GTX --

Restored GTX Hardtop Factory 426 HEMI V8 Automatic /// Optioned for speed, this spectacular Pentastar is 1 of only 410 Hemi GTXs produced for the 1968 model year, and 1 of only 193 Hemi GTXs equipped with Chrysler's drag king TorqueFlite. Since the car had spent most of its life roaming the roads with one family, it was a solid, largely original survivor that had weathered the decades well. That said, circa 2001, this Plymouth was subjected to a comprehensive,... 2-year restoration that addressed many points of wear. Under the hood, a correct, 426 cubic inch Hemi V8 that's dated to seven months after the build of the car. Professionally rebuilt by S-K Speed Racing Equipment of Lindenhurst, New York, that legendary elephant motor utilizes a magnafluxed crank, magnafluxed rods, .040 over JE pistons and a Comp hydraulic cam to twist big compression into big horsepower! The raucous mill leads a tough A727 3-speed that was sourced directly from TCI. That gearbox leads a trusty 8.75-inch axle that's finished with big, 3.91 gears and a choice Sure Grip differential. Naturally, that spirited driveline rides a factory-spec suspension. And all that MoPar goodness rolls on traditional Cragar S/S, which twist 225/70R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As in front of 275/60R15 Nitto NT555R Extreme Drags. Swivel this Plymouth's doors and you'll find a correct Light Blue interior that, according to the car's current owner, is still largely original. The front bucket and rear bench seats are wrapped in pliable vinyl covers that were replaced during the restoration. Front and center, a pliable dash hangs rebuilt telemetry and a correct Solid State radio above an Auto Meter tachometer and a Stewart Warner oil gauge. And in front of the driver, a blue-rimmed steering wheel spins an old school Mayflower around a small column shifter. In the market for some storied MoPar muscle?
