REAL 1970 Cuda 383 Console A/T with rare Elastomeric Front Bumper
1970 Plymouth Barracuda
1970 Plymouth Cuda 383 4bbl.An ultimate barn find from the famed 104 car collection of the Allan Reitz estate as featured in the August 2018 issue of Hot Rod magazine.Last licensed in 1989, this Cuda was preserved alongside the orange 1970 Challenger SE in an outbuilding on the farm near Mansfield, SD.Truly a unique project opportunity as an original heavily optioned big block Cuda fitted with the rare front elastomeric bumper option.Would make a great restoration candidate. Car has a clear Wyoming titlein my name and matchingdash VIN, fender tag, driver door decal, radiator support and cowl numbers.
Exterior:Frame rails and core structure of the car are very solid with minimal to no rust as shown in the pictures.Passenger area floor pans have only light surface rust with no holes anywhere.Engine compartment area is soundly intact with minimal rust swelling ahead of the hood hinge mounts and no rust issues in the cowl or radiator support. and no rust swelling in the shock tower area.Front fenders are damage free and dry with no rust in headlight bucket area and very minimal rust developing in the lower rear "pant legâ€.Doors are solid with tight lower pinch welds free of rust swelling.Passenger door has been replaced while the driver door is original to the car, still showing the factory door decal with VIN and September 1969 production date.Trunk floor, trunk extensions, quarter panels and outer rear wheel wells all contain typical E-body rust and will require replacement.Trunk lid is extremely solid with no rust in the rear lip and contains provisions for a luggage rack.Hood is an original AAR fiberglass hood added by a previous owner showing signs of prior repairs to the inner structure, just ahead of the hood hinge attachment.
Interior:All interior panels, seats, belts, dash components, etc. appear to be original to the car.Previous owner had front bucket seats upholstered while attending college in the mid-70's.While the interior was removed for cleaning, I was unable to locate a build sheet for the car in any of the seat backs.Aftermarket shifter has been removed and I have a good front console mounting bracket includedwith the car.
Engine: Original 383 and A/T are gone and a 318 with A/T iscurrently in its place. I have anoriginal 383 with A/T from a 1970 Charger 500 that is available to the winning bidder for an additional $750. Engine ran when removed and will need rebuilt. I am willing to remove the 318 and install the 383 at no charge to help with transporting the vehicle.
