1970 Plymouth Duster factory 340 H-code #'s match real Vitamin C car show ready!
1970 Plymouth Duster 340 Duster
1970 Plymouth Duster (VS29H0B296xxx) factory 340c.i.(H-code) numbers matching motor, automatic 727 transmission and factory correct High Impact EK2 Vitamin C orange paint!!!The Duster has it's original numbers matching 340 motor, fender tag, beautiful factory buildsheet, manual steering, factory front disc brakes, correct 1970 black 340 Duster side stripe and black trunk/tail panel stripe, factory grill, AM radio, factory woodgrain rallye cluster, added 340 hood scoops, chrome wheel lip and rocker moldings, bench seat with factory headrest, factory 5 on 4 small bolt pattern 14" Rallye wheels with BFG tires. The stunning high gloss EK2 PPG base/clear paint is the correct factory color. The Duster was mainly restored in 1999/2000 and now I just finished a light refresh restoration on the car including a complete block wet sand and buffing on the paint, some engine bay work, master cylinder, front shocks, rear-end/differrential, checked over all suspenion, electrical items, lighting, and tons of small items that most people overlook when selling or buying a car. The Duster was in the paint and body issue of Mopar Muscle in March of 2000 and yes it still looks absolutely incredible! The magazine will be included with the sale of the car as well as a show sign board. All of the body numbers match on the radiator support, VIN tag, original door VIN decal, buildsheet, fender tag and on the speaker shelf/trunk divider area. You must check these numbers to authenticate that it is a real 340 Duster. This is an absolutely beautiful car and one of the nicest factory H-code 340 Dusters you will find! When doing a restoration of this caliber takes a lot of time, patience and money to be done correctly. Please understand this is not your average "driver" condition 340 Duster!!!
PAINT AND BODY
The body is in excellent shape and the panels are very straight with excellent seems and panel fit. The super high-gloss deep clear coat shine was just professionally wet sanded with 1500, 2000 and 2,500 grit paper to achieve the high caliber ultra shine finish. This long process alone took over 50 hours and the finish shows it!The Dusters sheet metal is believed to be mostly original with only the driver side quarter being changed. The trunk floor, trunk extensions, floor boards, rockers, fenders, hood, doors and frame rails are super clean and appear original. The Duster was painted in 1999 with PPG base coat/clear coat and is in unbelievable condition... it has that deep wet look shine and looks like it was just out of the paint booth! If you think it looks good in the photos you need to see it in person! The paint in all the door jams and engine bay looks fantastic. I am very critical on paint and there are only a few extremely minor flaws in the paint. There are two small blisters on the passenger side underneath the chrome rocker molding on the very bottom edge. You can't see these unless the car is up in the air on a lift. The underside of the trunk lid and hood are also in excellent stunning condition. The doors open and close excellent with the ease of a finger and even the door latches and strikers were cleaned and polished. Mileage on the Duster is 43,975 not sure if it's original or not but would not surprise me if it's correct.
PLEASE CALL ME AT 412-496-1439 AND I WILL BE GLAD TO DO A COMPLETE WALK AROUND OF THE DUSTER, THANKS, CHAD.
GLASS, CHROME AND TRIM
The glass is in very good condition with only a few very minor marks. The front windshield is newer PPG glass and in excellent shape. The original Chrysler side and rear glass is in very nice condition and only have a few very minor scratches overall it is extremely nice for factory glass. All windows and locks operate as should. The front and rear bumpers are re-chromed from Tri-City plating and look excellent! The window trim is very clean and was polished for optimum shine. Excellent restored factory original grill!!!
INTERIOR
The interior was re-done with newer correct factory Legendary Auto seat covers, carpet, trunk divider, speaker shelf, dash pad, headliner, correct interior insulation, and sill plates. The gauge cluster is super nice and looks awesome! All factory gauges work and operate correctly. The factory oil gauge is not hooked up since there is an aftermarket oil pressure gauge for accuracy. All lighting works as should including the high/low beams, dome light, tail lights, parking lights, turn signals, fender mount turn signals, four-way flashers, license plate light and even the glove box light. The factory thumb wheel AM radio (yes it works) is there but there is an aftermarket radio installed under the dash and works perfect. The E-brake, defrosters, heater, fan, horn, speedometer and dimmer switch all work as should.
DRIVE TRAIN / SUSPENSION
The 340 has excellent power, runs very strong through all the gears and sounds great. The original numbers matching 340 was rebuilt in 1998 and I have the receipts and cam card. The 340 was rebuilt close to 1970 340 specs and has a small bump up on the cam. It has Sealed Power cast aluminum pistons, bored .030 over, Clevite bearings, comp cam (.480 lift), correct 2.02 heads, TTI headers, Edelbrock 600 cfm carb and intake, TTI full exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers and factory chrome tips and much more! The 340 gives an excellent range of power and runs/drives beautiful! I only use the Brad Penn High Performance oil, which was just changed and is ready to go! It is one of the best oils on the market and already has the higher Zinc added in for older cars. The 340 has a casting date of 1-5-70 and engine casting # is 2780930-340 and the front ID badge below the LH head reads FW 340 P 3106 0365 (F=1970 motor, W=Windsor Plant, 3106= built on Jan 28th 1970 (build day table number) and was the 365th engine built this date). The 727 automatic transmission (not numbers matching to the car) was also rebuilt at that time. It has a stock factory valve body and shifts excellent. It also has the correct kickdown linkage going up to the carb. The newer restored (4-core) Chrysler factory 340 radiator is the original 1970 part number 2998945 and also has the correct fan shroud. It cools excellent even on hotter summer days! The rear end is an 8 3/4 with 3.23 non-posi center (factory to the car) and a 742 case number on it. It has the original stock leaf springs with air shocks that work great. The front suspension was completely checked over and has new front shocks. This excellent drive train combo has very good performance and handles great in all conditions whether highway or city driving. This is a very tight and excellent smooth running and driving factory Vitamin C orange 340 Duster! This Duster sets itself apart from others being a factory H-code car, numbers matching 340, factory High Impact ordered Vitamin C car, factory buildsheet, fender tag, mostly all original sheet metal, been in Mopar Muscle and is just an incredible car with an excellent restoration from top to bottom!!! Please look at the photos closely to see the amount of detail work that was done!

I typically restore and finish around 10 Mopars a year and have been working on them for more than 30 years. I do every one as if it were my own to keep. I put a lot of time, effort, pride and money in the cars I offer for sale which is evident when viewing one of my cars compared to others for sale. This is one of the few cars you can view in person and say that it is actually nicer than the photos.
