Description:
1968 Plymouth Road Runner
Up for sale is my true RM21 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner Post car 383 - 4speed with decor trim package. I've had this car for at least 12 years . Would love to really finish the car but with a newborn and no empty garage to store it once completed it just doesn't make sense to me. I hate to see it go with how solid it is. Everyone knows finding a mopar with good bones is no easy task now a days. Its a factory turbine bronze car. Post car with pop out rear windows and decor trim package. Unfortunately no fender tag .
Motor is a rebuilt 383 runs really good no smok, noises etc. Gets out of its own way but also reliable cruiser. BIGS built holley carb, torker intake, srp pistons, mopar purple shaft, steel crank, hooker headers. Nothing extreme. Mini starter.
Trans is a 68 A833 4speed with fresh syncros and bearings from Brewers. Has a factory 11" 68 coded bell, centerforce clutch, and new flyhweel. New z bar, linkage, shifter, etc all from Brewers. This is a factory 4speed car not hacked up .Shifts good no grinds or pop outs.
Rear end is a rebuilt 8 3/4. 489 case richmond 4.10s with sure grip and 1350 u bolt yoke.
Years ago I did all new brake, wheel cylinders, hardware. All new brake and fuel lines, vent lines from Inline tube. New fuel tank and sending unit. The car is not used much so their is also a electric booster pump installed in line to prime the fuel system when it sits.
Front suspension was rebuilt using rubber oem style moog bushings.
Power steering car. Manual brakes with aluminum late model master. 6 pack K frame with skid plate.
Interior could use some work. It has a new package tray and headliner. Headliner is new but needs to be re stretched or redo it. Atleast you know all the rods and rear spring hooks are accounted for.. Roof was chassis savered before install. Carpet and sill plates were installed years ago. front seat is a hard to find 1970 bench. I have the headrest for it... i was going to recover it with a 68 cover from legendary, you can do what you want. The foam and tracks are in great shape. Rear seats nice but is brittle from old age. Door panels are original and just vinyl dyed.
heater box was fully rebuil, new core and Detroit gaskets. Worked great last year. this year the blower stopped. not sure if its a connection or what.
Has aftermarket gauges that work. OEM dash speedo, fuel gauge etc still works. BEEP BEEP horn works, signals work signal switch cancels. The dash harness is real nice not all hacked up or burn brittle rusted etc. Front headlight harness is new. Msd ignition.
Body is real solid for the exception of a few bubbles here and there shown in photos . It had lower quarter skins put on with a new trunk pan and drop offs. The floor is all original besides one small patch in the passenger pan about 4x, inner fenders, frame rails, doors, fenders, etc all OG . Never in an accident. The frame rails are all very nice factory undercoat car and when you peel it off you can see the factory turbine bronze.
Body needs body work to get ready for paint. Gaps look ok.its just in some older gray sealer right now. Front cowl grate is nice no slots rusty or bent. The rear inner wheel wells were trimmed in its early years to fit larger rear tires but were never welded to the quarters so there is a gap. There was some foam there that i pulled out to verify ZERO rot on the wheel well or quarter . has frame connectors but not cut into the floor or rails. Would be very easy and clean to cut out and stay stock.
New door handles were put in years ago. I have a nice front chrome bumper. I have the trim for the windows and probably extra. The rear window needs the trim clips installed i have the kit brand new. front windshield is original and fogged in the corners. I have a brand new gasket for the windshield when the time comes.
wheels are wheel vintiques. BFG radials up front with massive 325 -50-15 Mickey Thompsons out back. Stock location springs and wheel tubs with outer wheel house trimmed. Can cruize around 70 at 3,000 rpm. Sounds great 2.5 dual exhaust with flowmaster mufflers and tips.
I have the arm rest, the missing tri, the wiper arms, a bunch of new metro weather stripping and whatever else i find for it. Its all there, not a basket case runs and drives good. Restore as you go or blow it apart and do the body. Hard parts done.
Sold as is where is no warranties expressed or implied. If you have question, ask. Need additional photos ask and ill get them. Will assist in loading if vehicle is being shipped. Thank you
