Description:
1972 Plymouth Barracuda
Up for auction is an extremely rare 360driveline from a 1972 Plymouth Cuda- this was a J code optioned car when it was totaled back in 1979. The motor and transmission where pulled from the car back at that time when it only had 64870 and put in a back shed here in Oxnard when a friend of mine called me and told me it was for sale and that is how I came to own it.This is an extremely rare moto, builddate is 2/1/71 which makes this the heavy wall engine. I have completely dismantled this engine and transmission took a micrometer to it and determined the motor was cherry. I took the block and heads over to my local machine shop and had everything done- Block was tanked-magnafluxed-soniced-bored and honed to 020 over-decked-new cam bearings punched in-line bored-crank was cross drilled and micro polished at standard-rods resized and balanced-new Speed Pro forged pistons-Mahel moly rings-Cleveite 77 full groove main bearings & rod bearings-Melings blue printed oil pump. Heads are the J heads and were also tanked-surfaced-harden seats-reground the factory valves-Crower valve springs part#68305-1-new guides. Cam Shaft is a Crower Billet Hydraulic-Intake duration 269 lift 480- Exhaust 282duration 493 lift, so this is a healthy cam profile and a brand new Gear Dynamic billet timing set.Intake manifold is also a rare little piece this is a very early model Weiland 8007 spread bore high rise aluminum intake which pairs perfectly with a brand new- not rebuilt Carter Thermoquad carburetor even have the original box for the carburetor that will go with it. The transmission is the heavy duty 727 Torque Flight that has also been gone through-Kevlar bands-Red Line clutches- Hughes 2000 stall torque convertor. There are zero miles on this drive line and if you are restoring a 1972 Plymouth Cuda or 1972 Dodge Rally Challenger with a J prefix in the vin than this is a complete close to being original engine tranny set up or if you just want to upgrade your 273 or 318 project to some real power than this is the way to go. Please ask all questions before you bid and if you have less than 10 feedbacks you will have to contact me before you bid. Now for all of the legal stuff- THIS DRIVELINE IS BEING SOLD AS IS WERE IS WITH NO WARRANTY IMPLIED OR GIVEN- SHIPPING OF THE ITEM IS THE RESPOSIBILITY OF THE BUYER- I PREFER LOCAL PICKUP ONLY HOWEVER IF YOU WISH TO HAVE IT SHIPPED YOU ARE RESPOSIBLE FOR MAKING ALL THE ARRANGEMENTS- PAYMENT- MONIES MUST BE RECIEVED WITHIN 48 HOURS OF AUCTION CLOSE- IN THE FORM OF CASH-WIRE TRANSFER AND IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE PAYPAL YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FEES THEY CHARGE. So again any questions please ask before bidding and I do have receipts from both the machine shop as well as the tranny shop. Good LuckOn Mar-27-16 at 11:47:00 PDT, seller added the following information:
I do need to make a correction- it has been pointed out to me that this engine because of its early casting date would not have been the original motor that was in the 1972 Plymouth Barracuda that it came out of due to the fact the 5th digit would have had to have been a L and not J which is a 340 engine- I can only assume the original motor to the car had been replaced by this engine that being said this engine is still very rare and has major amounts of money put in it. good luck
