Hi all,
I had some what reluctantly placed this car on auction at the request of my girlfriend and she is way more excited than I am that it is selling!I had purchased this car about 5 years ago and, 'm sure a lot of you can relate, ad all sorts of plans to do this or that to this car. Blah blah blah! But, n walks the new girl friend! And loving her as much as I do, omethings did need to change! I have way too many projects and the house needs a bit of updating to say the least! I did just finish a '69 428CJ mustang for a buddy of mine who redid my living room in exchange. The points are stacking up in my favor!Being the keeper that she is, can't keep everything! So, his car is the first to go.But, he good thing is, he is allowing me to keep 5 of the cars I have!
Over this weekend I did have the pleasure to speak with the gentleman who originally built this car.A really nice guy and he was happy to see that a car he once enjoyed was still around! He says he always hunts around for interesting cars on the interwebs and stumbled on mine when he noticed the interior!I was close to my original assumption of the history of this car.He had purchased the car from a neighbor when he lived in Poughkeepsie in upstate NY.He did all the fab work in installing the engine and Trans from a '79 cordoba and the rear, enter consol and shifter from a '67 coronet in 1980.He had painted it a bright yellow, hich is still evident in some areas under the weather stripping. He had driven it daily mostly in the summer for some time before selling it to a used car dealer buddy of his prior to moving out of state. After that it's history is a bit fuzzy but, had found the car being stored in my friends service station that had been closed down for a a couple of years.Supposedly, he guy I bought it from was owed money by his brother and got this car and another in lieu of cash. Then stored it in my friends service station. Then here I walk in and had to have it! Like I didn't have enough crap already!Towed it home, rought it back to life, ot it drivable and did a few of the upgrades as mentioned above due to the "white knuckle" ride it was with the original front brakes and dead springs. So, ll in all, 'm sorry to see it go! Hopefully it will go to a good home and I will be able to get my bathroom redone and be a hero once again! Thanks for bidding!P.S. Hopefully the snow melts by auctions end! If not, ring a shovel!
