Owner’s Description
“This car was reportedly once owned by Elizabeth Packard, the wife of Packard Motor Car Company co-founder James Ward Packard. Before passing away in 1960, she gave the vehicle to her chauffeur. Please see the picture of the article for details on this story. The model 1101 rides on a 136.25” wheelbase and features semi-elliptical leaf springs at all four corners. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel vacuum-assisted drum brakes, and ride-control adjustable suspension was equipped from the factory. The interior features a split front bench upholstered in tan cloth, along with matching headliner, door panels, and carpeting. The front seats tilt forward to allow easy access to the rear bench seat. The woodgrain-painted steel dashboard features an instrument panel with a Waltham 120-mph speedometer, an eight-day clock, and gauges to monitor the oil pressure, fuel level, amperage, and coolant temperature. The plaque on the left side of the dash shows the car was awarded the Senior National First Prize by the AACA in 1981. The straight-eight engine is finished in green and features a Stromberg EE-22 carburetor. Power output was rated at 120HP when new. Chipped paint and rust on the right rear fender.”
