1958 Packard

Built Tuesday January 7, 1958 at the South Bend, Indiana factory. Car was painted Midnight Black and had options of automatic transmission, power steering, and brakes, undercoating, padded sun visors and white sidewall tires. Also on the build sheet was a windshield washer, radio and read deck lid antenna. Added by a former owner was a period correct FridgaKing air conditioner. The under dash evaporator remains in the car and the compressor, along with its bracket is in the trunk and will go with the car when sold.
The car was originally sent to Hutchinson, Kansas. It was stored in a warehouse near Hollywood, California for many years. At some time the color was changed to metallic gray. The car has its original 289 V-8 engine and the serial number and engine number on the car match the title.

The engine runs well, starts easily and does not emit smoke from the dual exhaust pipes. The transmission shifts correctly and downshifts when on a steep grade or when acceleration is needed. There are some waves on the rocker panels that may have resulted from some filler used prior to painting. This is not obvious when the car is is on the ground.
The odometer shows 32,750 miles. Realistically, it's probably traveled 132,750 miles but there is no way to know for sure. The padded dash is a little warped but has no cracks. The seats were probably refreshed at some time using either original or very close to original fabric. Much of the chrome has been replated and the anodized gold trim running down the sides was also refnished.
The current owner has owned the car for about 5 years and has either done or had done the following improvements:
Rebuilt car's original Carter WCFB carburetor.Rebuilt front brakes including new drums, linings, wheel cylinders and hoses.Rebuilt rear brakes including turning drums, new linings, new wheel cylinders and new rear hose.Installed four new B.F.
