Description:

1948 Packard Custom Eight

Offered is my 1948 Packard Custom Eight Victoria Convertible. This Is Packard's top of the line convertible and Is a very RARE model and almost Impossible to find In any condition!.(1100 made) This Is a 22nd series Packard, a very early model, (2259-2200) (200th car made) with a 356 C.I. straight eight with a 127" wheelbase. This Packard is almost 100% complete (except for a few missing exterior trim pieces: trunk moulding and upper right door moulding), and was found stored in a barn for almost 45 years. I purchased this car originally for parts to acquire the impossible to find custom 8 parts that I needed, but quickly realized this car was too rare and valuable to break It up for parts, so I decided to restore It!. I began restoring It but my plans have changed as I am now retired and In the process of selling my Packard collection as I am currently downsizing to a smaller home. I have now sold 4 of the 5 Packards and this one is the last to go! This car needs rust repair in the floor boards,(carpets removed to show rust damage), rocker panels and the rear half of the trunk floor including some rust around the trunk opening. after starting to cut out a section of the passenger floor, I decided this car is worth to do It the right way and replace the complete floor pans and rockers instead of patching them. I have already purchased a set of heavy duty well made rocker panel replacements and are Included in the sale. Also Included is the original build tag which shows the Info about the car. Also Included in the sale are all of the parts that I have purchased including a set of (4) NEW Coker Classic H78-15 Wide Whitewall tires, (4) beautiful Custom 8 cloisonne center hubcaps with NO CHIPS on centers, good used battery tray, good used lower grille bar (the one on the car is broken in 2 places), nice cormorant hood ornament, rechromed left tail light w/ new seal, new tubing for hydraulic system that operates power top, power windows and power seat. I will also Include all of the remaining extra parts that I have including extra front and rear bumpers, (2) extra mounted spare tires, Extra trim pieces, hardware and whatever else I can find. Convertible top is complete, but rear wooden bow is broken in middle and the wood will need to be replaced. Engine is free and turns by hand, I have never tried to start as fuel tank should probably be drained and cleaned first. (Engine and Transmission condition unknown) Have original keys but will not turn Ignition, (may be stuck). Trunk lid looks like It was replaced at one time with one without the custom eight trim and apparently they never saved trim. It also has super eight door panels, not sure why?. Also have one right door moulding, needs straightening. This car needs and deserves a restoration just because of Its rarity and value. It also can be used for parts with its wealth of rare custom 8 convertible parts but It would be unfortunate to part it out!. Car has excellent front fenders and hood (fenders stripped to bare metal and primed), doors have no rot underneath .but have fiberglass on lower outer door skins, good solid rear quarter panels, good solid frame and inner fenders. (Rocker panel has long crease below right door as shown in picture).THIS PACKARD IS SOLD AS IS, AS PICTURED, located in Syracuse NY area. PLEASE DO NOT BID ON THIS CAR IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO PICK UP IN SYRACUSE, NY AREA!!. Buyers are welcome and encouraged to view car in person before end of auction.NOTE: No registration or paperwork with this car, I had to select clean title on E bay, there was not an option for no title. I bought It from an auction company with bill of sale only and will sell it the same way BILL OF SALE ONLY. NOTE: Certified checks need to clear my bank (5 business days) before car will be released for pickup. Thank You and Happy Bidding!!
