1940 Packard Super 8 160 Sedan. Restored. NICE! See VIDEO.

1940 Packard Super 8 160 Touring Sedan Listed on behalf of CAL Cars. LOCATED NEAR PORTLAND, OREGON This 1940 Packard Super 8 160 1803 Touring Sedan was an early-production car, built in September, 1939. It was the 776th 1940 model 1803 Sedan built. (Of approximately 2,200 total.) Sold by J.E. Meyer Packard Company in Stockton, California on November 10, 1939. While the early history of the car is unknown, it lived in California much of its life, until being acquired in 2014 by the Missoula Auto Museum in Missoula, Montana. A comprehensive restoration was performed, including: • Conversion to 12 volt electrical system (Headlights, taillights, turn signals, interior lights.) • New wiring harness. Optima battery. • Rebuilt 12 volt starter and generator. • New paint in correct 1940 Packard "Laguna Maroon" color. • All chrome and trim re-plated. • New glass throughout. • New rubber seals in windows and doors. • New correct rubber running board mats and trim. • Restored tan interior upholstery, headliner and carpet. • New woodgrained dashboard and window moldings. • New correct plastic trim on the dashboard. The car presents nicely today. Please see photos. Much money was obviously spent on the restoration. The paint is very good. Correct color with a deep shine. Body is straight and rust-free. Good panel fit. Interior is very nice throughout. Nicely optioned with dual sidemounted spare tires with metal covers, bail-cap hood ornament, Deluxe Packard Heater/Defroster (installed but not plumbed at present.) Deluxe "Banjo" steering wheel (with a few hairline cracks noted.) Rebuilt working 12v quartz clock. First-year for sealed beam headlights. (Bright 12 volt lights. Great visibility at night!) Gas gauge not registering, but 12v-6v. resistor is included to be installed. Mechanically, this car runs and drives well. Recently serviced 356 cubic inch straight 8 engine. (The most powerful 8 cylinder engine on the road in 1940.) 165 HP. 9 main bearings. Excellent oil pressure. No smoke. Good acceleration. Transmission shifts smoothly. No overdrive. Comfy at 55-60 on the highway. In my test-driving of the car I have noticed a little occasional noise from the hydraulic valve lifters. I attribute this to having not been driven much recently since the restoration. I don't think it's a big deal and should likely clear up with more driving. Just wanted to mention it. Good brakes. Stops smooth and straight. Good wide whitewall bias-ply tires with Packard Deluxe chrome wheel shields and hubcaps. Tracks well down the road at all speeds. Undercarriage is clean and rust-free. 127" wheelbase with independent front suspension makes this car easy-handling in modern traffic. Please see video tour and test drive video, below. Overall, this is a very nicely restored Senior Packard. Designated a "Full Classic"™ by the Classic Car Club of America. Qualifies for participation in all CCCA shows, events and tours. Would also be welcomed at all AACA, Packard Automobile Classics (PAC) and Packards International club events. Would also make a nice car for evenings on the town or a wedding limousine service. A realistic reserve has been placed on this car in keeping with its rarity and quality. Please bid accordingly. WE WILL HAPPILY SELL TO BIDDERS WORLDWIDE. Thanks for looking and GOOD LUCK!
