Here’s a solid old FJ40 here in California. It’s a 1976 model, rust-free, and still has its original 6-cylinder engine. The body, frame, and floors are all in great shape for the age—really solid all around. The floors have some surface patina, but no rust or soft spots—just the kind of aging you'd expect from a truck this vintage. Check out the photos of the underside, it’s clean.

It has the rare ambulance-style rear doors, all the glass is intact, and the doors open and shut properly—only the driver’s door latch is a little iffy, but it still functions. A few years ago it was repainted in its original blue. The paint isn’t perfect, but it still looks good and gets compliments.

Inside, it’s all original, including the factory seats. They’re old and worn but still there and haven’t been replaced or messed with. Adds to the classic feel of the truck.

The engine turns over strong. It has the original manual transmission. I poured a little gas into the carb and it fired right up. It’s been sitting for a few years because of a carb issue, so it’ll need some basic things—tune-up, fresh gas, brakes gone through, and the carb sorted out. Nothing too serious, just the kind of stuff you’d expect after sitting.

It’s a great starting point whether you want to restore it, drive it like it is, or just hang onto it as a cool piece of vintage 4x4 history. Trucks like this are getting harder to find in original, solid condition.
