1936 Studebaker President

You are bidding on a 1936 Studebaker President sedan. It is powered by Studebaker's 250 cubic inch inline eight with a three-speed overdrive transmission. It is being offered with NO RESERVE. This vehicle was a gift to the Studebaker National Museum and donor-designated for resale. All proceeds from sale benefit the Museum.

The car wears an older amateur restoration. It is currently operable (runs, drives, stops) but mechanical status should be verified by the purchaser prior to operation. Mileage shown is 50,852 but it is unknown if this is accurate.

Exterior: The President's paint and brightwork are in fair to good condition - a "20 footer" that shows numerous small flaws and imperfections upon close examination (see pictures) . Running boards appear to have been re-covered in the factory-correct pattern. Hubcap chrome is faded and windshield frame shows corrosion beneath plating (see pictures). Bumpers, hood ornament, and badging is in very good shape. Aftermarket parking lights have been fitted. Tires are Denman wide whites of unknown age.Interior: The interior is in good to very condition. Seat and floor coverings appear to have been previously renewed. There is evidence of previous rodent activity in headliner (see pictures). Car is fitted with Studebaker-branded heater. Trim material surrounding rear window is loose, as are b-pillar trim panels (see pictures). Mechanical: The President runs, drives and stops. Engine carries good oil pressure (40+ lbs. upon startup). Car is fitted with a three-speed overdrive transmission, but overdrive's operation is unknown. Tuneup and/or carburetor adjustment likely in order - engine will not idle down. An electric fuel pump has been fitted. Battery was relocated to underhood location (factory was under front seat) and car was received with negative terminal grounded (factory was positive ground). Car is fitted with Startix, but has been bypassed with starter button on instrument panel. Steering has some looseness - gear appears to have an excess of end play on output shaft. Hand brake will hold car in incline, but could use adjustment.Structural: Undercarriage appears solid.Contact:Car may be viewed by appointment.
