Very Solid and Complete Project Car
You are bidding on a super solid 1967 Mustang fastback restoration project. This is a two owner car. This mustang has been off the road, since approximately 1982.A pretty cool find, originally candy apple red, with a 289 engine, c-4 automatic transmission, power disc brakes, power steering, and added fold down rear seat. The car still even has its original buck tag screwed on the driver side rear fender apron. This mustang seems to be pretty unmolested. It originally had a floor console, which is missing, and originally it was built with a fixed rear seat, but somewhere along the way, a fold down seat was acquired. Please see the Marti report. However, since it has been sitting for such a long time, this Mustang will need to be completely restored. The great news is that this mustang is not a basket case, but a very complete and super solid car, needing only minimal rust repairs. I will list the specific details on the Mustang condition below.

Specifics about this excellent fastback restoration project:
An extremely complete car that has been sitting since the 80s.
The quarter panels have both had lower patch panels installed years ago. The quarter panels are very solid and salvageable with minimal work. If you want the car to be perfect they should be replaced.. (they do not need replacement)
The frame rails from the front of the car to the rear are an excellent condition. The trunk floors have small patches are solid, and can be left as is. The fender aprons and core support are extremely solid. The battery tray itself is rusted but the original apron underneath is in excellent condition. The top of the fender aprons have a few soft spots which can easily be patched. This is very typical of any 1967-70 mustang.
The floor panels are original, and they have received a few small patches at some point in the cars past. Most of these areas can simply be left as is however, it will need one front floor pan replaced on the driver side. (Please see pictures)
The hood, headlight buckets, and front fenders are in outstanding condition. Even both underside of the fenders appear to be closer to new old stock condition than used. They are excellent. This car comes with (your choice) of the original quarter panel extensions and a brand new reproduction factory style trunk lid, or a Shelby style fiberglass decklid, along with a pair of matching Shelby style quarter panel extensions.
The doors that are currently on the Mustang are from a 1968 Mustang coupe and they are rust free.
All the glass is in good condition. The original fastback door glass will come with the car, but it is not installed in the doors. (We can quote door glass installation, if desired)
Mechanically the Mustang will need a thorough overhaul. We removed the spark plugs and filled the cylinders with transmission fluid and it seems that the engine is seized from sitting for over 40 years.
The interior of the Mustang is complete, and will need restoration. Everything is there and undamaged will just need to be restored.
Project fastbacks that are this complete, and solid, are getting tougher and tougher to find. Even the brand new fastback bodies that are on the market for $18,000-22K, still require that you have a donor car.
