Mercury did not make Convertibles in the first generation 67/68 Cougars. A handful of conversion have been done but it is rare to see them for sale. This car runs and drives great. It can be driven as is or can be easily changed for person preference. This Conversion was done right using a donor 1968 Mustang Convertible. The Chassis was stiffened per Ford Specs on the Mustang Convertible. The cost to purchase a clean Cougar (and Donor Mustang or Parts) and do the Metalwork and conversion would exceed $60K before even painting it.
HiPo 302cu /365HP 4-sp. top loader, Hurst shifter. Previous owner had 42 years. Rotisserie nut/bolt restoration in 1997.All convertible components are from 1968 donor Mustang. Original factory Shelby roll bar and hood locks, Mark 1 functional hood scoop w/signals. DuPont Imon paint with 4 clear coats. Front disk brakes, p/s, Monroe air shocks, Traction bars, Radials F-245/60R-15, R-295/60-15. Cragar SS rims w/knock off centers.Bored 40 over, Block was decked, Balanced, Keith Black Domed pistons, Chrome moly rings, solid lifters, windage tray, duel roller timing chain, 7qt oil pan.Heads-Oversized 3 angle cut SS valves, roller rocker arms, threaded rocker studs w/guide plates, Fully ported and Decked .015". Holley 600 carb. Weiand high rise intake, Accel super coil, 8mm plug wires, solid state ignition, Hooker competition alum. coated headers duel exhaust pipes, Thrush Turbo mufflers.High back front bucket seats. Sony stereo (4) 4" frt speakers (pioneer), 2) 12" rearNo Rust. Older Paint Job.
