1970 Plymouth Road Runner

Beep...Beep! This 1970 Plymouth Road Runner is a classic beauty that quickly turns heads on the road! This is a real Road Runner (RM21 VIN) and not a clone that was originally a 383 powerplant. It boasts a powerful 440ci V8 engine that provides an exhilarating driving experience with approximately 600+ horsepower. The exterior is a sublime green with a black hood. The car has room for 2 passengers and features a full manual, reverse pattern valve body, Torqueflite 727 transmission. The exhaust is 3" stainless steel with Flowmaster mufflers and cutouts for full open exhaust. This car has mostly sat in my garage for years other than the occasional cruise in outing. I have taken it to a 1/8 mile drag strip one time for a test and tune. Best time ran was a 7.04ET, 1.45 60ft 1/8 mile on pump gas. I suspect that some additional timing and race fuel should put this car into the 6's quite easily. At the track, the car does pull the front wheels so it is quite an exciting ride! Don't miss your chance to own this iconic car. I have sunk over $10,000 into upgrading the engine, transmission, gauges, shifter and more since I bought the car. I love this car but it tends to live in the garage these days and I would love for it to go to someone who can really enjoy it and show it off.
Engine:The powerplant is a 440 bored .060 over (452 cubic inches) and approximately 10.75:1 compression ratio. The cylinders are topped off with Trickflow PowerPort 240 aluminum heads with 78cc combustion chambers, roller rocker arms. The springs will support up to .650 lift camshafts. The valves are opened by a Howards Camshaft Hydraulic Roller with the following specifications:Lift: .545 / .545, Duration @ .050: 235 / 241, Centerline: 104. The intake is the legendary Mopar M1 single plane and is topped off with a custom built 4150 Holly that flows 1050 cfm.
Suspension:Tires are planted to the road with adjustable ladder bar suspension. The front suspension was recently refreshed including tie-rods, bushings, ball-joints. Steering was upgraded with a Flaming River quick ratio steering box. The rear tires are fat 31X16.50 Hoosier Quick Time Pro street slicks with only about 6 drag strip passes and less than 50 miles of driving on them.
Interior:The car has a nice dash with all of the gauges you need to monitor your powerplant. It is also setup with data logging capability to log AFR, RPM and Vacuum. Seating consists of 2 racing bucket seats and racing harnesses to strap you in. The flooring is sheet metal and there is no roof liner (these were the next improvements I had in mind before deciding to sell this car).
Driveline:There was a lot of work put into making a strong, high performance TF 727 for this car. The valve body is a Cope Racing Transmissions Race reverse manual valve body. Most of the internals were replaced with upgraded parts, all from CRT. Including billet steel drums, billet steel roller pinions, red racing clutches, and much more. The transmission was converted to roller bearings instead of bushings. The drums/sprags were upgraded, overall several thousand $'s went into this transmission build. The converter is a 3900 stall, bellhousing is shielded and transmission has a Kevlar blanket. The rear is a dana 60 with approximately 5.33:1 ratio. Brakes are 4 wheel disk brakes.
Negatives:The front and rear glass could use re-sealing and the doors could use new gaskets. It does not currently have functioning windshield wipers but the linkages are in place under the dash, just need a wiper motor, switch and wiper arms. The interior flooring is all sheet metal and could really use some dynomat and carpet to bring it to the next level. I have included pictures of noticeable exterior flaws, these are not comprehensive but encompass flaws that may be easy to spot. The hood is a flimsy fiberglass hood so it could use an upgrade there. There is some amount of trim missing on the grill, the trim around the windshield is a bit banged up (whomever re-installed it was a little aggressive with it before I bought the car). There is no heater in this car.
More:If you want to make an offer, please send me a message! If you are local and want to hear the car run and/or take a ride, please send me a message. I will not allow others to test drive the vehicle as I cannot be responsible for someone destroying this extremely powerful vehicle because of lack of experience. If there are other pictures you want of the Roadrunner, just let me know and I'll add them to the listing or directly message them back to you.
