1959 Chrysler Lebaron Imperial 4 Door Hardtop, Long before George Costanza bought his Chrysler Lebaron on Seinfeld. The Lebaron was born. We are extra proud to offer this Rare made only from 1957 - 1959 Lebaron. As an industry first, she has curved side-glass rather than straight, and a compound curve single piece very large windshield. All the glass was developed by engineer Les Parr. Another 1st these cars were entirely different from lesser Chryslers, thus requiring a separate body, assembly, body trim and paint line at the Kercheval Body and Jefferson Assembly plants in Detroit. Among the firsts mentioned above the car was the in-thing, large fins graced the tops of the rear quarters, the trunk decklid slide gracefully down to a massive rear bumper and the deck lid also included a stamped spare tire impression complete with wheel cover. A massive, powerful Chrysler “Hemi” was bored and stroked out to 392 cubic inches, capable of producing 325 horsepower and huge amount of torque to propel the just shy of 5,000-pound car to 60 mph in under 9.5 seconds and the quarter mile in just 17 seconds at over 80 mph. The car features the most advanced suspension in the industry, due to torsion bars in front and a Hotchkiss drive with semi-elliptic springs in the back. In between the famous Torque flight three-speed automatic transmission that debuted late in 1956. Chrysler’s own power steering system and Airtemp air conditioning systems were standard and optional, respectively. The new 57’ Chrysler’s was ready to compete head to head against Cadillac. Quad headlamps were standard, the front bumper was massive but simplified, the grille redone for a more classy lighter look. 5 vertical spears crossed a massive horizontal wedge of chrome creating a completely new & unique look. Custom and top-end Lebaron cars received the all-new big-block 413 cubic inch “Wedge” V-8 churning out 350 hp. It was the last hurrah for the early Hemi. Pristine acrylic Formal Black code A paint.
