This is a solid 1972 Pontiac Firebird in need of a full restoration. There is no engine or transmission and other parts will be definitely needed to complete the project.
Coincidentally, 1972 Firebird production was cut short due to a UAW strike so 1972 Firebirds are pretty rare.
It would be great to put it back together as originally equipped or swap in your favorite LS or LT V8. It would also make a really cool Trans Am or Super Duty clone.
The body is a solid starting point for your project but it will of course need some attention. There are chips, dents, dings, scuffs, scrapes, patina, and other imperfections. The windshield is cracked.
This car was originally equipped with a vinyl top which was removed under prior ownership and the metal underneath was coated with primer long ago. As is typical of vinyl tops, some rust developed around the rear window allowing water to run down into the dog legs on the quarter panels (in front of the rear wheels). As you can see in the photos, rust is just starting to come thru on the dog legs.
As you can see in the photos, the floor pans, rockers, doors bottoms, etc. look really good. Much of the factory-applied red oxide primer is still visible underneath (and also inside) the car on the floorpans. Corrosion on the subframe and suspension components is pretty light which is pretty typical of California cars. This was originally a factory air car but the air conditioning parts were removed and are not included in the sale. The doghouse was removed from the car but has been reassembled to make transport easier.
What is left of the interior is rough and obviously additional items will need to be sourced but thankfully restoration parts for these cars are readily available.
