1972 Ford Mustang

This 1972 Mustang is a running and driving project in progress. I will go over the pro’s and cons.

Pro’s

  • The car has been repainted Red. New metal was put into the quarters. It is very straight, but no perfect.
  • All the body gaps are good on it. See pictures. Doors open and close well.
  • The car is untouched under the hood. Looks to be all original.
  • The interior is all there and un-touched. Looks to be all original. The seats all match and there are no tears in them.
  • The power top goes up and down. The convertible frame is very nice.
  • The engine runs very well. The AC pump doesn’t have the belt on it, but I can turn it over by hand.
  • The doors do not sag, open and close nice.
  • There is a new top in the trunk for it.

Con’s

  • The floors were patched a couple different ways. There is a drop in behind the driver’s seat and there is a sheet metal skin over the other rusty areas. Best way to fix it would be to put in a completely new floor (best way) or to put in the sides.
  • The Drivers side frame rail by the floors has rust on the bottom and up the side to. You could make a piece and weld it in on the side and cut a piece the width of the frame rail and weld it along the bottom to repair it. I think you could use a cut from a new rail from an earlier mustang, but they are $200. I would fix it.
  • There are a couple patches on the top of the frame rails in the trunk. I am not a fan of how they installed them. I would plug weld them to the frame rail and weld the seams as needed. Easy enough to do if you have a welder.
  • Front right frame rail-outer, needs to be replaced. It is soft and for a $39 piece of metal how could you not fix it.
  • Tires are older.

The car shows real well, (the paint job is real nice) but it looks like a body on restoration. To exemplify the paint job more, thry put on me quarter panels. There is no rusting issues with the paint job. I like the fact that the engine bay is all original and that there is no rust around the shock towers or on the apron. The interior is not hacked up and all original. The seats are not torn, so you would not have to restore the interior. The convertible top works, goes up and down nice. There is also a new top for the car.

I do have a clean open title for the car. There are no liens on it. In addition,I have a video of it running in the G mail photo album. If you message me, I will send you the link.

This auction is for an uncompleted on-body restoration, the car is not restored. I am very realistic and not trying to over-sell the car. I have sold many cars and open to selling to car dealers and buyers overseas. If you need help with time to arrange shipping, the car is in the shop and I can keep it there for a couple weeks. If it gets to be too long, it will go outside. The car does run nice and brakes workfine. It will load with no issues.

I do want to be paid for the car after the auction ends.

I encourage you to call me if you have questions. I do not want to cancel an auction. Zero bidders need to contact me to bid. I have the right to end the auction early, the car is advertised locally too.
