Description:

1977 Datsun Z-Series

Available is a 1977 Datsun 280Z 2+2 which has undergone a powerplant upgrade. It has a completely rebuilt Chevy LT1 in place of the original 6-Cylinder. The engine is nicely cammed with an LT4 HotCam kit and Sanderson short tube headers. It sounds great and lumpy. The car also has a T56 6-Speed manual transmission. It was originally a stick-shift car painted gold with a white interior from the factory. The engine and trans upgrade were done by me about 10 years ago. Life happened and this is still a project car although I put about 1,000 miles on the car to make sure the engine and trans were operating as intended. The car has been stored in a complete cocoon storage bag since I parked it (about 4 years ago). You can see the gray car-bag under the car in the picture I took just before closing the bag up. I didn't know that it would stay there for as long as it has. This car was fully transformed into a show car and won dozens of trophies back in the late 70s and 80s at shows. The years have worn away the luster, but it is a very solid project car.
My father owned the car since 1979 and I've owned the car for the last 22 years. The car has not seen snow or salt in the years we've owned it. For that reason, it's a clean and solid car in regard to unibody and body. I have ALL of the receipts and documentation accumulated during the engine and transmission swap to date. I have an original service manual.
I have all of the interior items which can be reinstalled. I have the original set of gauges. I replaced them with a fantastic set of AutoMeter Phantom II's and you can see them in the pictures. I have a new set of black carpet. The dash is currently mounted in the car, but I don't have a picture to post. Let me know if you'd like one. The headliner is original and clean and just needs some spray adhesive to reattach it to the roof. The bumpers were removed as I intended to install the white air dam as shown in the pictures. I intended to create a rear-center exhaust as well. The seats will need to be either recovered or, even better, replaced with something better than the OEMs ever were.
All of the glass is great. The stainless trim is just covered with tape and can be removed.
Again, this is a project car. I know what I have spent so far. That may or may not have any bearing on its current value or worth. I would like to see the car get to someone who has the ability to get it finished and ultimately enjoy it. If you're truly interested, get in touch and let's talk!
Let me know what questions you have and I will get them answered.
Thanks!

**** UPDATE ****
I've been asked by a couple of people for some more pics of the interior. I've opened the bag and snapped a few pics today (8-27-2023) and have included them as the last 6 pics in this listing. I've also snapped a pic of the lower rear seat cushion and the center console. The upper rear seat back is hidden behind the center console in the pic. I didn't realize it wasn't visible when I snapped the pic. The center stack fan controls are also captured in that pic.
Thanks!
