Description:

1965 Studebaker Commander

Collector owned 1965 Studebaker Commander Wagonaire in nice original condition. Garaged in Central Virginia.
This particular Wagonaire was donated by the original owner family to the Studebaker Museum in Indiana... acquired from the museum by the second owner in Florida in 2017 and recently acquired for my collection in Virginia.

This Wagonaire and all Studebaker's after December 1963 were built in their Canadian plant. This is a three speed manual column shift car with the GM sourced 194 six-cylinder engine (the same one used in the Chevy Nova). The carburetor was recently rebuilt, engine tuned and the car runs great, idles smoothly with no oil leaks or oil burning.
As can be seen in the photos, the car has a nice patina on the hood, roof and rear tailgate, while there's a shinier more glossy finish below the belt trim line. The color is original Studebaker Laguna blue.
Gauges work except for the fuel gauge, which needs to be reconnected. A new fuel tank was sourced from Studebaker International and installed a few months ago. This was a radio delete car. I recently installed an under dash am/fm stereo with speakers located underneath the front bench seat.
The interior is all original except for brand new custom fitted black carpet. There's a split seam in the front seat on the drivers side (see photo). All glass is very nice and windows roll up and down as they should, including the rear tail gate glass. The sliding roof has a latch that locks in three different positions when open. The sliding roof gasket is original to the car and should be replaced (new gasket included and shown in parts photo).
New parts installed 2023:
New shocks at all four wheelsNew batterynew front lap beltsnew front wheel bearingsnew stereo and speakersnew fuel tanknew custom fitted carpet- cut for the Wagonaire
All 4 tires are in very good condition. Drum brakes were rebuilt in 2022.
A selection of extra parts, original paperwork from the factory, shop manual and dealer brochures come with the car... including a selection of Studebaker club magazines. Happy to leave the cool decals if desired too.
All in all, this is a nicely preserved and rare Wagonaire that will be the hit at your next cars & coffee. Priced to sell! Personal inspections are encouraged with an appointment. Garaged in Central Virginia near Charlottesville. Clean Virginia title in sellers name. Currently registered, insured and on the road.
A $500 non-refundable deposit required immediately. Balance to be paid by cash in person or bank wire prior to release of the title and vehicle.
