1981 DeLorean

You are bidding on VIN 1534 with black interior, 5 speed transmission and the coveted gas flap hood.This car is a solid driver, no accidents, clean title car that has undergone a mechanical restoration.She has been a driver for many years, but needed some updates bring it to the next level. The original owner was a US Airways pilot.His parking sticker is still on the windshield.The car was in CA for part of it life. At some point it was driven across the country to NC.That owner passed and his wife sold it some years later.The next owner kept in a garage for the past 7-8 years.He drove it locally on a regular basis to keep it up.He updated the fuel pump and water pump, headliner and clutch line clutch master and slave cylinder.The car came to me as my first ever trade.I had a red 1990 Lotus Esprit for sale.The Esprit was difficult to sell due to a reissued title. The Delorean was an easy trade for me since I am very familiar with them. When you come pick it up you will find 2 other Deloreans at my house.I have been working on them since 2016.When 1534 came to me it ran and drove. It had cracked dash, cracked binnacle, cracked seat covers,AC didn’t work, steering rack was missing end bushings, it had exhaust leaks at headers, original fuel lines, squeaky blower motor, and misadjusted door locks.All the parts below either needed to be replaced to resolve an issue or just needed to replaced because this is what is we Delorean owners do to update these 40 year old cars.Many items were not broken, but if this was my Delorean, this is what I would do. Some things are just worth replacing because there are better solutions out there. Mileage at 30,600 is only a moment in time.This car gets out a few times a week, mostly for milk runs and local car shows.I have probably put 400-500 miles on the car in the past 6 months trying to give it a proper shake down.She always starts.She has never left me in the side of the road.She maintains temperature extremely well.She drives straight.She accelerates with no hesitation in the entire RPM band.She shifts into every gear.Clutch feels strong, doesn’t slip at all. AC blows cold.I have clean title in hand.If you buy the car I will next day air the title as soon as funds are received.If needed the car can stay here while a good price for a transporter is acquired.It will remain insured until it leaves my house.
