Description:

1970 Chevrolet El Camino

This is a true 1970 SS El Camino. It has factory A/C (although the compressor is gone). Bench seat column shift. It has a replacement 1972-4 396/402 motor. TH-400 automatic and 12 bolt rear end.
The original trim tag is still on the car.ST70 13680 - 1970 Malibu El CaminoKAN 922646 - Leeds (Kansas City) plantTR 764 - Metallic Medium Blue bench seat (it appears to have been recovered or replaced in black)25 O - Astro blue paint04E - 5th week of April 1970 build weekL - SS (this is only on Leeds plant built SS)
I bought it at an estate auction. I believe that the prior owner (deceased) was the original owner, who loved him some ElCo's - in the auction were a 1960 (with a 350), 1965 that was ready for the scrapyard, my 1970 and a 1976.
As you can see in the photos, it has been lovingly rattle can painted in matte gray, with a light gray primer hood and white and surface rust bed walls. You can see the original Astro blue inside on the cab wall.
I have done the following on it since I got it:1 - new battery2 - replaced the steering column with a used one (the mounting splines for the steering wheel were damaged - you can have the original column)3 - replaced the steering wheel with a reproduction one - (the original is damaged - you can have it as well)4 - front end alignment5 - oil & filter changed6 - gotten it running - now runs very well7 - added a battery cut off switch
I will include the original 1970 NC license plate that I found under the seat.
