1949 Autocar C-50 diesel rat rod. Google search 5tonfred and you'll see videos and pictures. It's been in magazines and on Danny Koker's show Ultimate Rides (S2E6) It started as Autocar commercial vehicle and was transformed into a show stopping diesel rat rod. It's heart is a 7.8L industrial turbo diesel engine bolted up to an Allison automatic transmission. It has a huge Eaton differential with 6 series gears. The tires are 53" Michelin military tires on aluminum wheels. It has heavy duty air brakes that will lock up the tires at speed! 4 auxiliary air tank supply air from the engine driven Bendix compressor. And the air horns on the roof are low pitched tug boat. It has a functional heater. The seats are from a 1958 Lockheed Neptune submarine bomber are fit great and are very adjustable. It has fully functional instruments including tach, speedo, water temp, volt meter, oil pressure, boost, air pressure and fuel gauge. Top speed empty is around 60 because of tire imbalance. With a trailer on it will go around 70. On a recent 700 road trip it averaged 14.8 mpg.It gets more attention than anything I've every seen. People will follow you home to ask about it.
